Collaboration with Bale Breaker Brewing, Barley Brown's Beer, Black Raven Brewing Company, Melvin Brewing, Odell Brewing Co.
The city of Moxee, WA, is in the heart of the Yakima Valley hop growing region and this Imperial Session IPA—a style contradiction—honors the Pacific Northwest's hop-bomb heritage. Moxee-Moron features hops in the mash, the kettle, the Hop Torpedo, and the fermenter for ultra-complex hop aromas and flavors in an ironically named package.

June 26th, 2016 - The next entry in the Beer Camp series is the Moxee-Moron. Why an oxymoron? "Imperial Session." Ah, so now I have no clue what to expect. I'm interested! And a little appalled when I smell body odor and a pungent dankness on the nose. And further shocked when I get a taste of the brew, which is far lighter and fruitier, with some passion fruit, orange and guava. The aftertaste is also quite short, leaving plenty of room for the body odor musk from the aroma to return in full force. This is indeed round after round of surprises.

Bottled 4/5/16; drank 5/5/16 @ the Yarchives.
See-through bright orange appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.
A rough pour yielded a HUGE off-white head; a curtain of frothy, tree-rung lace.
Sweet tangerine & faint rye dryness in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Tangerine & mild cane sugar flavors up front; faint rye dryness on the finish.
Simple but well-balanced & quite enjoyable. This would excel on a hot summer day.

12 oz. bottle poured into Willibecher.
A- Honey-golden. Clarity is not quite brilliant. Head is off white, foamy, and retains at about a half inch. Not much lacing.
S- Complex nose. Tropical notes up front: pineapple and passionfruit. Dull citrus and faint pine.
T- Flavor a little more muddled than aroma. Pine and citrus come out more. With a mild light toast.
M- Bitterness lingers off a medium body. Smooth in texture.
O- Not bad. Really would have liked to see those tropical aromas carry over to the taste.

Pours a slightly chill hazed deep gold, producing 2.5 fingers of white, frothy, clumpy, somewhat lasting head that leaves a coating on the glass like a clumpy lace curtain. Spidery & sticky, absolutely beautiful. Aroma is bready caramel malt, tropical fruit, orange, tangerine, earthy, floral, tea like & spicy hops. Taste is caramel malt, tropical fruit, orange, tangerine, citrus pith & spice. Slightly off balanced as it starts & finishes slightly more malty than hoppy. Aftertaste is flat & subdued caramel malt, tropical fruit, citrus, resinous pine & alcohol bitter, lightly astringent & the only portion of the sip that is more hoppy than malty. There is plastic/waxy hint that I can not place from start to finish but disappears in the aftertaste. Alcohol manifest more as bitterness & spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, a nice prickle, juicy, wet, slightly slick & a little oily.
