Picked this one up a couple of weeks ago. I always like the Sierra Nevada collaborations, especially their Oktoberfest ones. Had given the Brauhaus Riegele collab a 4.13 back in 2015 and the Brauhaus Miltenberger one a 3.69 in 2017. But in my mind, Weihenstephan just kills everything they do. Hoping for a 4.25 at least.

Poured an amber-to-copper clear color with one finger of fizzy off-white head. Could see some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Very bad watery lacing. Poor retention. (Sight - 3.00)

First thought on the smell was an ESB, but became more Marzen like right after. Got toasted bread, caramel, earthy grain, plum, reddish purple grape, pear, red apple and brown sugar. Had me wanting to try it. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste was just as good. Wow. This was nice. Got toasted bread, caramel, grainy cereal, red apple, plum, pear, reddish purple grape, nuts, brown sugar and honey. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, sweet finish. (Feel - 4.25)

Just a lovely Oktoberfest. About as good as I could ask for. (Overall - 4.25)

A: Deep orange copper - crystal clear - pours with a small, off-white head, fades to a small collar and leaves some streaks of lacing

S: Toasted grains, toasted malts - not as malty as some Oktoberfests, but that makes sense considering Weihenstephan's Festbier beer is also oddly light (probably because a festbier is supposed to be lighter than a Marzen) - grains, toasted grains, light bread, toasted bread, bread dough - lager yeast - some grainy and grassy notes - some light fruit - light sweetness at the base

T: Lightly bready and highly drinkable - some toasty and decidedly non-toasty flavors - biscuits, toasted bread, toasted grains, grains - some pale malts and bread dough as well - some notes of herbal and grassy malts - low sweetness from the malts, but some interesting sweetness overall - notes of honey - fruit flavors linger, like hints of apple and pear (not sure if they are esters or just lingering sugar) - low bitterness - mostly clean

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, crisp

O: Another year, another Oktoberfest review

I really enjoy Sierra Nevada's Oktoberfest collaborations, and I love Weihenstephan. But this does not really blow off my lederhosen. It's on the light side, with some nice malty and lightly fruity flavors. But I still think I prefer the Mahrs Bräu collaboration from 2016.

After the first sip, I wasn’t a big fan. It’s very heavy on the malt. By the third or forth sip, I was feeling it more and more. This is a nice fall/ early winter beer. Kind of heavy, but not too filling.

Nice looking beer. Nice color somewhere between a traditional amber marzen and a pale marzen. Nice white head, some lacing follows. Smells of bready malt, a little muted to me, but pleasant. Taste is crisp, sweet, malty up front. Finishes with a bit of hop spiciness. Body is medium with a carbonation that seemingly perks up the taste buds. Overall, as billed, two great breweries collaborated on an excellent beer.

This is a great beer. I'm usually not a fan of sierra nevada but this one is entertaining. More on the malty side, lager-ish for oktoberfest. Nice aroma, not to hoppy or bitter, not to carbonated.... "a crowd pleaser."

Pours a beautiful amber with an off-white head.

Smells of cereal grain, toasted malt, bread, and herbal hops.

taste is big bready malt with toasted bread and caramel notes, slightly nutty towards the end. There is a bright crisp slightly lemony herbal hop character that keeps this beer lively.

12oz bottle poured into a pint

A- pours a clear copper color with a one0finger foamy white head that reduces to a ring around the edge

S- caramel malts along with toasted brown breads, forrest floor, biscuity with grassy and floral hops, a bit fruity at the end

T- biscuit and caramel malts up front give notes of bread crust, straw, floral and grassy hops. The finish is a bit spicy, with some honey sweetness on the linger

M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp finish

O- hits all the right spots for the style with great drinkability

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a bronze color with a 1 inch head. Smell is malty, some sweetness. Taste is of caramel malts, bready, a touch sweet, light hops, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

The beer pours a nice light and white head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a delicious looking clear copper brown that looks good.

The smell and taste are both good. Both have a good deep sweet honey malt note surrounded by a orange hop note. The taste is a bit more bitter than the smell.

The feel is good. It''s a medium bodied beer with a clean feeling to it.

Overall, a pretty good Oktoberfest.
