This is our Brut IPA, a new take on IPA brewed for a bone dry champagne-style finish. Late hop additions give the beer balanced bitterness and a bright pop of citrus flavor. It's as intriguing as it is drinkable.

The bright clear light yellow colored beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1/2” finely bubbled snow white head that recedes slowly to a cap and then a thin irregular island of foam on the surface and a small ring around the glass while leaving a ring of lacing on the sides of the glass. Sipping creates a couple of arches and some slender patches and legs of lacing.
The aromas are light, clean and crisp and include lemongrass, a light touch of grapefruit and some biscuity, crackery malt. There’s also a bit of citric zest and some herbal character showing.
Much as expected from the nose, the flavors include the lemongrass, some grapefruit along with a bit of orange all blending nicely with the crackery, biscuity malt in the background. Also in the background there’s a bit of earthy, herbal character in the mix of light sweetness and moderately dry bitterness.
The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied, clean, crisp and prickly with the persistent carbonation. The medium length finish begins as the citric fruit flavors and light sweetness recede to leave the clean, crisp, very dry lightly bitter ending to slowly fade away.
Overall this is, as we’d expect from Sierra Nevada, a well made and enjoyable beer. The finely bubbled carbonation and the light, clean dry light bitterness in the finish make this very drinkable and I’ll be happy to have another. Solid, refreshing beer and one that seems to fit well with the emerging idea of what a Brut IPA should be like.

Clear golden color. Small, white head. Grass and pine in the aroma. Dry with strong hoppy bitterness. Not bad, but not my favorite variation of IPA.

For being a "Brut" it had a sweetness to the finish. I was expecting a really dry bitterness on the finish. I really enjoyed the citrus/hop flavor, medium bodied this beer tasted almost like a summer ale. Very drinkable. 25 IBUs Rated 4-17-2019

Bottle from Albertsons. Here's Sierra Nevada hopping on yet another crazed, this time the Brut ipas. Pours a very pale golden with a small skin of white head. Aroma is fruity, grapes. Taste brings a little bit of sweetness, and a very sharp pronounced bitterness. Overall, very light in body and palate. This improved over time, as it warmed, and as the palate adjusted to the yeast.

12-oz bottle into Belgian ale glass
A - 3 fingers of white over a transparent body of pale yellow, clouded with suspended sediment throughout
S - orchard fruits, lemon, grass
T - lemon, orchard fruits, spice and grass from the hops
M - light body with high carbonation, dry finish
O - Not terrible; just not quite what I expected from an IPA.
