This is really unique in the current IPA market. I don't think 'juicy IPA' was the right way to sell this (beyond the obvious fact that juicy sells). This is a mega bright, almost austere tasting IPA. The neon can art really sells the feeling I get drinking this one. It's not an immediate favorite, but I appreciated having it around as something different.

12 oz can with a May 2020 canning date stamp on the bottom. Purchased at the Wall of Beer in Clemson SC (1.99).
Look. Pours with a slightly hazy golden-amber body topped with a durable white head.
Aroma. Bright, fruity and fairly complex.
Flavor. Moderately bitter for style. Moderately juicy, at most, for a "juicy IPA". Hints of pineapple, grapefruit and lemongrass.

Pours clear, with a bright white cap of foam. Wonderful aroma, big and juicy and vibrant. The taste doesn’t match up completely, and there’s a slightly grainy haze finish. Mixed bag. I think I want to like this more than I actually do. That aroma tho!

Update: sure enough, this has grown on me. Wish I saw it on the shelves again.

12oz can
date stamped 033120C
L: hazy pale yellow-golden body; frothy white head
S: floral citrus, lemongrass, melon
T: spicy/floral/tropical: lemongrass, guava, honeydew, lavender, biscuity grain, faint pine
F: medium body, ample carbonation, dry and moderately bitter finish
O: a very unique beer. I'm finding it refreshing, but a little too floral for me to get it again

Nice deep straw gold. A finger and a half of white head and light lacing.

Mild hops and tropical notes. Light sweet malt.

Light and mild hop bite. Tropical fruits in healthy amounts.

Crisp and quenching. Goes down easy.

A nice light tropical ale. More like a juicy American pale ale than an IPA. Still a nice brew for hot summer days.

Pale straw with very light haze and dense rocky head. Tropical fruit melon pineapple apricot aroma. Medium light tropical fruity sweetness with some graininess and medium light herbal citrus bitterness in dry finish. Light body. Weird but good. Not all murky and gross like a NE IPA.

Pours a less than murky yellow with moderate carbonation. Taste is juicy hops a hint of pils malt? Overall a middling "new IPA", as far as stuff you can buy in a grocery store.

So overall this beer was a bit underwhelming. I will say that it is a solid pale ale but to call it an IPA is a bit of a stretch which is ironic coming from Sierra Nevada the makers of the green label pale ale that could easily be an IPA with it's high IBU's. But I digress. This one pours a straw yellow with a nice one finger head. Aroma seems a bit underwhelming but maybe my nose is just off, I expected more tropical fruity aroma hops coming through but it looks like the master brewer decided to go skimpy on the late add hop additions. I've had their tropical torpedo IPA and that one definitely had more bang for the buck in the aroma department than this one. Just sayin'. Taste - not bad for a pale ale but for an IPA it's just too light. Drinks like a hoppy lawn mover beer or an "all day" IPA with some nice citrusy hop notes. This is not a bad beer, definitely worth a try if like light hoppy beers.

Canned 31 Mar 2020, purchased at TJs.

A clear light orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing this looks good. The nose is nice and modestly juicy, with peach, melon, a little mango and some orange. The palate opens mildly bitter with orange peel, mango, peach , a little green grapes. A light honey and cotton candy note is present. Drying, fruity on the finish with a mild bitterness, this beer is medium light in body and moderately carbonated. Solid.

Just to preface this review I'm Sierra Nevada's biggest fan. Seriousl,y I can't wait for almost every seasonal release they have and their pale ale is one of the best beers on the planet. With that being said it hurts me to say...this beer is awful. I mean I'm not even really sure what they were trying to do here. Their Tropical Torpedo is ok and their Hazy Little Thing IPA is great so why bother with this attempt at some mutant offspring of the two? The beer looks like a cloudy watered down lager, and the taste is like...well there really isn't much taste. It smells alright, but as soon as you take a sip it completely falls flat. A little hint of a Belgian beer crossed with a NEIPA and a Brut IPA, just not good. Maybe they had a bad batch of something and decided to market it as a new limited offering to recoup the cost, only reason I can think of that such a highly esteemed brewery would can something like this. If you see this one on the shelf take a pass.

Appearance: Pours a clear, pale golden color with a mild white head. SRM of 7-8. (3.75)

Aroma: Medium aromas of wet tropical fruit. I get wet lemon, pine, papaya, mango, orange, pineapple. Very tropical and wet. Not resinous but sweet smelling. It's pineapple juice that sat in a large basin in the sun and now become a sweet drink. A touch of green citrus bitterness underneath.

Flavor: Tropical flavors mixed of orange juice, mango juice, wet pineapple juice and more tropical melon possibly. Wet and juicy, but not resinous. Not much malt flavor here. Hints of green bitterness but the juice pushes the beer forward into a sweet & tropical juice finish. (3.50)

Body: Medium to heavier bodied. Slightly heavier and sweet. Lower carbonation. Finishes with sweet juice, yet the carbonation provides a decent cleanliness.

Compared to Surly's Minor Miracle 5/15/20: Pours a lighter color. Milder aromas. More zesty citrus bitterness and less wet fruit. Lighter and dryer.

Overall: A pretty good juicy ale. I said ale. I don't know that I would call this an IPA. Definitely not a hazy IPA. It has great tropical juice flavors, but zero malt body, finishes sweet without any bitterness. Strong sweet fruit. Sort of like red wine in the form of tropical juice rather than grapes. Clean on the palate however. It's like red wine turned tropical. Tropical Juicy with a little bit of green. Thanks. (Final Rating: 3.68)

12 ounce can, 3/31/20 dating on the bottom.

Pours with a minor to perhaps minor haze, on the golden side of lighter amber, with bubbles continuing to rise. Leaves an off white slight cap, some nice looking low sheeting and fine bubble fields of lacing all over the glass.

Light grassy and pineapple on the nose.

On the palate is some grassy hops, with a hint of fruit, all with an underlying layer of malts. A bit of citric zest in the finish.

With 'Juicy IPA" all over the outside of the can, and "tropical" in the name this one really does not live up to the advertising...If it was listed as a "pale ale", with less unfulfilled hype, I think the numbers might be higher.
