Narwhal Imperial Stout dives to new depths, an abyss that’s rich with cocoa nibs, peanut butter flavor, and hints of vanilla from bourbon barrels.

16 oz. can. Black body. Smells of peanuts, roasted malt, some hops, and a little bourbon. Tastes of peanuts that don't turn green peppery, which is nice. Roasted malt. Bourbon and oak. Never too sweet. Bourbon and peanut butter in the finish. Medium heavy and quite boozy. It's an interesting stout, because when you taste the peanut butter, you expect a chewy, sugary mess behind it. But it's got a nice roast and barrel character.

16 oz can.She looks as expected. Pretty, dark, capped with a mocha colored foam. Good retention, slight lacing.
Nose pops with a glorious wash of peanut butter and cocoa. Gentle notes of bourbon chime in as well.
The flavor does not quite follow the nose. The peanut butter is way in the background and the cocoa is timid. A decent barrel note comes through though.
Mouthfeel is solid enough.

Smells kind of fascinating. I've never had that peanut butter whiskey shit, but I'll bet the nose on this isn't too far off. Very, very hot on the palette. Honestly, I'm not that crazy about it right now, but in a few years... who knows? The rest of mine are going to age either way, cuz I'm not returning to this any time soon. Bummer; I was really looking forward to this one.

A - Very dark brown on the pour with moderately dense toffee colored lacingf and very low carbonation.

S - Big peanut butter aroma followed with some chocolate and roasted cocoa. No more, no less.

T - Follows the nose with big peanut butter and chocolate, some chocolate roasty char, and Bourbon that builds on the back end of the sip.

M - Thick, borderline syrupy, leaves a slight sticky residue on the lips, and warms the back of the throat on the way down.

O - Think: Boozy liquid peanut butter cup on 'roids.

Pours black with a thin brown head on top. The smell has a very nice nutty bourbon aroma to it. The taste is what you'd expect from what the beer is, its all there but melds together really well with the Peanut Butter, the Bourbon and the dark chocolate malts to round it out. The feel is good, rich and velvety subtle heat in there too. Overall I really enjoyed this beer!

The peanut butter really comes out as it warms. Fun beer. Split this one with my brother in law.

Picked up four-four packs for our tasting group 2/9/22 from the Mills River Gift Shop for $20 per four-pack. Canned 1-25-22; consumed the first of two cans 2-10-22.

Beer poured black with a nice tan head with the original pour.

Nose is nice, peanut butter and chocolate dominates. Get some vanilla on the back end along with a touch of bourbon.

Taste is a large medium roasted malt base infused with peanut butter and chocolate adjuncts. Barrel-aging lends a nice touch of vanilla and bourbon. Finishes surprisingly balanced as the barrel takes care of the excess sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall a nice Narwhal variant, definitely fun to try and a good dessert beer.

Ok. this one caught me by surprise. I have been avoiding beers with peanut butter in their names or descriptions. Not that I don't love peanut butter, but I didn't necessarily want the taste in beer. Well, I was wrong. The Peanut Butter Cup Narwhal is a great tasting beer. Great balance between the BBA Stout, peanut butter, and chocolate with ever so slight vanilla. Smooth and easy to drink for an almost 13% ABV beer. It's not often that I like a variant more than the base beer, but I liked this more than BBA Narwhal.
