On tap at NoTB. Saison aged in French Oak Syrah Barrels
The beer pours a light brown color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It's light and highly fruity with a faint hint of caramel and loads of yeast character. The wine barrels contribute a noticeable oak and fruit character to an already good beer full of Belgian esters. The taste is good as well. It's an easy drinker with lots of fruit character to it. I'm not sure what providing the bigger impact the barrels or the yeast culture. Anyway, it's a solid saison with excellent barrel, wood, notes. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a very good offering from Sierra Nevada. I'm impressed with the creativity and overall drinkability of this beer. I would love to see this one in bottles.
