On tap at the 2018 Decatur Beer Fest.
Pours with a clear golden body topped with a decent white head. Excellent clarity.
Mild, mainly hoppy aroma.
The well balanced flavor is mildly bitter and has a good blend of hops and malts.
Medium-light body with medium carbonation.

On-tap 12/29/2016 @ Madison Square Garden in New York, NY.

My face had just been Split Open and Melted by Phish after a dark, haunting, and downright fantastic end to their first set and I needed to pee badly. I raced down to the MSG corridor towards the men's room, when I caught something out of the corner of my eye; a FOAM Pilsner tap handle! Yes!

Enjoyed during the set break from a plastic cup, it had your classic pilsner appearance: pale gold in color and clear with a frothy white head. Grassy noble hop aroma (or maybe that was just coming from the crowd?) with bready malts to back it up. Nice balance in the flavor that pretty much nailed the profile of a German pilsner. Medium-light bodied, quenching and fortifying.

This was the perfect pick-me-up for Set 2. My friend Andy and I shared the last few sips as Mike's bass pounded out the opening notes to Down With Disease, and we were on our way to a great rest of the night.

Comes out of the tap a somewhat hazy solar yellow with a decent ivory head. Aroma is not strong, but invites a taste with its malty and subtly fruity tones. Flavor is largely malty with a subtle undertone of pear, crisp and refreshing if not complex. Mouthfeel has OK texture and fizz, seems about average for a pils. Fair to middlin’ and leaning towards middlin’. Pils fans should like it.

On tap at the Owl House in Rochester, NY.

Pours a golden straw yellow, very clear, no haze. There's a small quarter inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells typically Pilsner-like, a bit corny, with some sweet malt, and a bit of grassy hops. Not overly distinctive, but it nails what I expect for a pilsner.

This tastes relatively the same, slightly sweet, with a snap of grassy hops providing a quick bite towards a smooth, grainy finish. There's a slight floral aspect to the hops, too. There's some slightly doughy malt flavors, as well.

This is light bodied, with a very crisp, but slightly oily mouthfeel, which is weird. There's a medium amount of carbonation. It's very drinkable.

This wasn't the best American made pilsner I've had, but it still hit the spot even on a cold day.

Im reviewing this based on a VERY VERY VERY hazy morning after Halloween in Indio at "8" in '09...Chugged three of these with a few donuts and then went back to that ridiculous 24 hour kickball game...Its was a pilsner...It slaked my thirst...I was very very very very high...A good time was had by all

10/30/13 Sierra Nevada Murican Pils is what this was called at the Tap takeover at Rattle n Hum, NYC.

My first impression on the nose was oregano...yeah, I know...WTF? Thankfully that soon dissipated & what I got was very slight spiciness & a nice smooth finish. Well balanced hops. All in all a good beer.

a very good pilsener, true to its name its nice and frothy from the tap, with a little color to it for the style. smells and tastes like what i claims to be. there is a nice grassy hop complexion in the finish and a little more body than we usually get in the style without sacrificing refreshment. its a beer drinkers pils, thats for sure. very dry, with a longer finish too, more hops than normal, but thats just fine with me. a great all day session type beer for those who get bored with light beers. sierra nevada always has top tier seasonals, and this one is no slouch. is this bottled or canned? i have only seen it on tap

Had on tap @ Phish's Super Ball IX back in 2011. The beer wasn't the best I ever had, but it wasnt the worst. It poured clean and had a rich golden color to it. Unfortunately I had to have it out of a solo cup, but it didn't deter me from enjoying it. I wish it was available more often.

On tap at The Lark in East Northport, NY (last night, 10/30/13); pours crystal clear yellow color with a snow white 1 finger head that faded slowly and left decent spotty lacing.

Smells of sweet malt, grains, caramel, light floral hops and mild herbs; very malty overall and a non-hop beer aroma from SN which is unusual but good and par for the style.

Tastes like it smells with sweet malt, roasted grains, caramel, biscuit, floral hops, coriander and mild herbs; the finish is malty and almost like wet wheat bread, but tasty and par for the course.

Mouthfeel is light crisp and almost watery, with mild carbonation, a light body and a sweet malty aftertaste that trails off grainy and almost buttery flavor.

Nice beer and more flavorful than most for the style.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clean, clear pale yellow color with less than 1/2 inch of white head that had low retention and lacing.

The aroma had a solid grain base, with some gentle, earthy hops in the background. The flavor profile was the same, solid grains, with some nice balancing hoppiness. The flavors combined nicely for a well balanced combination of flavors.

The body was a bit fuller and thicker than is typical for the style, and had a smooth, crisp and dry finish. Drinkability was very good, you could easily knock off several of these over an afternoon. Overall, a pretty nice take on the style. Maybe not the beer for you if you like your Pilseners on the lighter side, but certainly worth a shot to decide for yourself.

On draft at Tap and Barrel, Smithtown, NY.

Poured a dark straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was Goid retention and lacing.

The smell featured light pilsner malt, a grassy hop and fruity esters.

The taste consisted of a grainy pilsner malt, typical noble hopping and a pronounced ester.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side of the style.

Overall a tasty, fruity pilsner.

On tap at Churchkey. Served in a pilsner glass. Pours clear yellow-golden with a nice white head. Good retention and plenty of lacing. The nose carries a good dose of continental hops. A bit spicy with nice floral character. Delicate. Flavor has crisp malt underneath some biting hops. Good floral hop presence throughout. Very crisp and concise. A very well done pilsner.

"I'm looking through and it all would be so crystal clear if it wasn't for the foam." - Phish

@ Victoria's Station in Salem. Didn't expect to find one-off beers there. I hear tell FOAM was brewed for Phish's performance at Bonnaroo.

For a beer called foam it sure doesn't have much of it. Head dies within the first few minutes. Clear, deep gold color.

Smells and tastes really clean. Some dough to the aroma but pretty neutral. Taste is, again, clean and neutral with some raw dough and subtle hop spice. Full body.

For a music festival in the hot Tennessee sun a guess a fine pils is in order but for a beer called foam I was expecting a big headed BSPA gusher or heady saison.

One of my least favorite Phish songs by the way.

On tap, Pours a clear golden color with a half inch of head. Aroma is grassy with some grains and lemon. Some lacing. The taste is cut grass, lemon peel and malts. A bit floral at the end. Light, crisp mouthfel with alot of carbonation. Extremely drinkable. Somewhat sweet and bready. Overall, decent beer I'd have again during the summer months. Reminds me a bit of Sierra Nevada Summerfest.

A: Poured from teh growler into a pilsner glass. Body is clear yellow, with plenty of bubbles rising nicely to reinforce a 1-finger bright white head.

S: Some bread dough and cereal grains provide the malt profile, while the hops provide a bit of grassiness, some generic fruitiness and mild lemony citrus.

T: Cereal grains up front with a touch of sweetness. Herbal, grassy and modestly lemony citrus hops provide bitterness that balances it out. Lingering crisp bitterness. Reminds me in that way of Sixpoint's "The Crisp." Lighter in flavors than many of the PA pilsners I usually drink (e.g. Victory, Troegs, etc.).

M: Light-to-medium in heft (on the lighter side of the scale). Carbonation is finely prickly, but active (I got some up my nose by accident, an interesting experience).

O: Light, easy-drinking and refreshing - a good summer or lawnmower beer, or one that I'd enjoy drinking at an outdoor music festival in the heat, so the Phish tie-in is appropriate.

On-tap, served in a pint glass

Pours a clear light golden yellow with a paper white thick two finger cap. Some good lacing and big sip marks. The nose is of some honey, clean pilsner malt, floral notes, and some grass. The flavor profile mimics the nose. Clean lightly sweet malt with a prominent earth presence. Fresh cut grass and floral bitterness in the finish. Light mouthfeel with high carbonation. The finish is mildly bitter, clean, crisp, and dry. This is a great beer for the summer heat.

16 ounce pint - $5.25 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Served a perfectly clear, lemon-hued body housing steady streams of effervescence underneath a fine, snow white head.

Smell: Pils malt yielding accents of dough, gently toasted grains while the hops bring notes of spice, peppery herbs, and mild citrus.

Taste: Grainy pilsner maltiness, lightly doughy, grainy, with just enough sweetness. Spicy, herbal, minutely citrusy hops with sufficient bitterness to perfectly balance things out. Finishes smooth yet crisp.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. A notch above medium carbonation for a pleasing crispness.

Overall: Very refreshing, very enjoyable. I couldn't care less about Phish if I tried, but this was a nice pils, SN.

Brief head that leaves some streaky lace. Color is straw with the mildest of hazes.

Raw grainy freshly gristed malt aroma with a flowery hop background. Mild.

Crisp with a rounded swallow. Interesting. Tastes of raw grain and a touch of oats. The swallow features a moderate peppery bite from the hop. There's some berry sweetness in the flavor. Very refreshing on a hot humid day.

32oz Growler from Beverage World. Served at around 40-45F.

Pours almost clear yellow with a one finger white head that recedes to a light cap and doesn’t leave much lacing behind.

Aroma is grassy, noble hops, a hint floral, some bready/cracker malt. Good strength.

Flavor is grassy, noble hops, decent bit of light malt sweetness, decent bit of bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is light bodied, a touch sticky, good carbonation.

Very nice Pilsner, Crisp, super easy drinking. Hoppy, but still balanced.

Growler from Ale Yeah! in Roswell, GA during the Sierra Nevada tap takeover. Being a Phish fan, I had to grab a growler of FOAM.

A: A clear straw color with a fluffy white head. fluffhead?

S: Sweet honey malt and a floral and grassy hop.

T: The malt starts out a little sweet and with a little grain. The hop then comes in a provides a grassy flavor and bitterness to balance out the malt. Finish is a touch bitter with some lingering grain.

M: Medium body, which was a surprise, with good peppery carbonation. Bitter in the finish.

O: A little bit more bitter than other Pilseners. After the initial few sips, it all blends rather nicely.

On tap at The Surly Goat in West Hollywood, CA.

Pours a clear yellow with a white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks and dots form randomly around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and some slight corn/vegetal aromas. Taste is much the same but there is a nice herbal hop finish with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is easy to drink and has a better flavor than aroma in my opinion.
