On-tap.
A: Served a caramel brown color with red highlights beneath a thin tan head that left wispy film down the glass.
S: A much weaker nose than I expected. I get some faint cherry juice and faint barrel must.
T: Light like the nose with notes of caramel malt, cherries and slight barrel. The finish is slightly sour with dry notes of cherry pits and gritty tannins. I get some faint lemon as well. Bready yeast aftertaste. Nothing much too this beer.
M: Medium body, foamy carbonation, light body. Drying but not crazy.
O: Almost nothing to the taste, even less to the nose. What flavors are there are good, and if they were stronger they would be a great Flanders. One of the first SN beers I’ve actually been disappointed in.

Dark brew with a thin mustache of foam in the pint shaker. The color is very dark amber with a tawny edge.
I honestly can't say there is any actual flavor of cherries. Maybe that taste after you spit the pits out of canned cherries. This tastes like a mediocre amber ale spoiled by cherry pits. Nothing to make it fragrant or even fruity. Ends on a very dry note but without much hint of any yeast or Belgian flavors. I taste some wood but overall this is very plain. This has to be my least favorite Sierra Nevada brew.
There also does not seem to be a hint of anything lactic. I was quite surprised to look this up and see the category. Described as "ale with cherries" at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach. Had a pint on 12/12/12.

Draft into a snifter at San Diego Brewing Company for $6.00 at San Diego Brewing Company in San Diego, Calif., on Nov. 12, 2012. Reddish brown with khaki tan head. Great retention on the sides, average retention on the top.
Smelled cherries, sour cherries, caramel, toffee, Cherry Garcia and dark fruits.
Tasted sour cherries, toffee, tart and dark fruits. A bit bland and disappointing overall.
Medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish.
After some high hopes, this just didn’t work. Probably wouldn’t have it again.
