It's our birthday, so we decided to throw a party and all your buds are invited! Taste buds that is. We brewed this pumped-up version of our award-winning Gravity Check Session IPA with boatloads of Mosaic and Citra and some of the finest specialty malts we could find. Rest assured, Double Check has a big hop presence, but still retains that smooth easy finish that you expect from Gravity Check. Hoppy Birthday to us!!

Another beer from the 24th annual dipa festival. A lot of repeats this year, seems like the majority of beers used to be one offs, this year we saw a lot of repeat offenders. Dial it in baby. Black diamonds and pearls.
Pours golden leaning into light amber. Good clarity. 1/3" white head. Hits the nose with the ultra familiar and probably #1 hop combo these days, the Mosaic-Citra one two punch. Its nice. Usual orange, tangerine, berries, weed and papaya framework.
The taste is clockwork expectations, Citra and Mosaic continue to dominate in the most familiar of ways, for the better. I don't know what the commercial tug job about specialty malts is all about. This just tasted like 2 row and pilsner. Does that count? Not really sure, but boy if those count as specialty malts, big yikes as the kids say.
Its a by the number approach from Kern River, and they have the chops to pull it off in an above average way. Not sure if they package these, but seems like an easy 64 oz to kill if so.

On tap at Kern River Brewing
A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a thin layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.
S: Citrus, resinous pine, a little underlying tropical and stone fruit, a touch grassy, biscuity malt, and just a hint of caramel sweetness.
T: Spicy resinous pine, citrus, grapefruit, lemon, and orange, a little tropical and stone fruit, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, peach, and apricot, a bit grassy, biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness with a fairly dry finish.
M: Just a touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Exactly what you'd expect from Kern River, a well executed DIPA.

Packaged on 8/29/22 - consumed on 9/16/22- poured from a pint can into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.
Foggy Naples yellow gradient supports three fingers of dense off-white cream up top. Rich, pearling lacing; superior retention.
Citrus/floral/faintly tropical nose suggests orange cream, berries, and faint mango or peach.
Grassy/spicy/herbal palate entry, potent but not-quite dank. Tangerine, grape must, and papaya join the party. Grain bill asserts itself with a clean crackery malt presence, with a touch of honey-like sweetness synergizing with the tropical/orange/berry flavors from the hops. Moderate bitterness builds then drops off; hops undulate in waves of complexity and simplicity throughout. Faintly grassy/floral and substantially drying finish.
Crisp, medium-bodied, well carbonated, gently warming.
Excellent Imperial IPA with a unique grain bill.

Deep copper color with a sparse head. Nose is deep piney. Taste is sorta sweet and then the hops tackle the tongue. Supererb beer with a great finish! Cannot wait for next taste!

Yeah, what can I say? Kern did it again. This one is like The Rock on steroids - “Do you know what Kern is cooking!?” Ok, sorry for that. Anyway, this one just straight up slays like a Crusader during the 15th century or something.
I’m gone.

Appearance: Slightly cloudy yellow color with generous-sized white head that slowly faded. a good looking IPA.
Smell: Pineapple aromas, mild tropical fruit aromas and some faint piney hop aromas.
Taste: The pine aromas and tropical fruit notes from the nose feature prominently in the flavor profile. The beer has a fairly strong bitter hop backbone that dries the beer out nicely. The beer finishes fairly dry ending with some mild pine and fruit notes that transitions to only bitter hop notes.
Mouth-feel: On the light side of medium-bodied with a fairly generous level of carbonation. nice mouthfeel for an IPA
Overall: A good West Coast style IPA. The beer has a solid hop bitterness to go along with the fruit and pine hop notes.

Canned two weeks prior to enjoying. Delicious! West coast DIPA, so clear and bright. The aroma is subdued but it’s packed with hops. Candied orange, some subtle berry jam, and a drying, sticky, pine finish round this out. Yum!
