The limited-edition beer is made using premium Amarillo hops which were harvested at the notable Crosby Hop Farm in Woodburn, Oregon – known for their best in class products. The hand-select hops were closely monitored through harvest, cut from the bine at the peak of freshness and driven over two thousand miles to Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX where they were immediately placed in brew kettles – a 36 hour, non-stop process.
Shiner Fresh Hop IPA is a crisp, refreshing and fragrant beer yet bold enough to tout an impressive 65 IBU. Putting a unique twist on the hop-forward style, this flavor-packed brew has aromatic hints of apricot and peach with subtle grassy, citrusy notes – an unmatched taste that can only be achieved with fresh hops. The Russet red hued brew is best enjoyed as soon as possible at a suggested serving temperature of 50-55° F to maintain freshness.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy amber with a nice off-white head that lasts a while. In the Nose, citrus notes predominates. In the mouth, it is citrus and malt. Nice!

Has that juicy NE style look with a mango juice color and a lot of suspension floating. Poured a thin head that disappeared quickly. Has a nice aroma that goes along with the style. Taste is juicy like mango, orange, pineapple and has a pleasant amount of bitterness. It's a thin mouthfeel that makes for easy drinking. Overall a nice tasting beer that surprises me from Shiner. Poured into a tulip glass from a 12 ounce bottle.

This is a pleasantly surprising find; a micro-specialty brew that's like catching a goose that lays golden eggs. Never heard of it till I bought it.
The idea of Texas Brewers courting Oregon Brewers makes this mash that much more delightful. The influence of both masters getting their heads together with the variety of hops makes the blend superb. Its. heavenly citrusy touch assurs the pale ail name lives up to its label. My favorite essence is the hint of cat piss that is usually evident in finer wines, but there it is in one of Spoetzl's finest.

Pours a hazed amber with a thumb of cream colored head. Good head retention & modest lacing
S: Fruity, a little grassy
T: Malty, dry, a little grassy, figgy with leafy hops up front. Dryness, more leafy hops as this warms, plus some jammyness. Finishes dry & fruitty
MF: Medium body, fairly restrained carbonation, skews fruitty
Drinks eay, but also drinks more like an English IPA, could be an agething, but since I can't find any dating, I may never know. Still better than most of their stuff, doesn't really make me think fresh hops by any stretch

Appearance: Opaque golden amber glass looks, there's no other word for it, murky. Holds a firm head of tiny bubbles marked by a few larger dots, holding a solid quarter finger and lacing.
Aroma: Mild under-attenuated malt sweetness, a whiff of slightly citric hop but no hop bomb noted.
Taste: Creamy start, goes just slightly bitter with some fresh hop leaf flavors and earthy edge. Some crystal malt sweetness with a mild toasted grain. A firm tea note comes out as it warms.
Mouthfeel: Sudsy, medium light body with a medium high carbonation, pretty clean if slightly dry finish.
Overall: A very well balanced, which is way off style. Even in the Hazy IPA category this should be hitting much higher hop notes. What's here is pretty tasty, but it's much more toward the APA range. What it doesn't taste like is a Shiner, so kudos there. Think they went with a different yeast. A nice beer, just going to disappoint if you were hoping to get a hop fix. There are some good hop flavors, just pretty low volume.

Picked up two 24oz bottles and a then a six pack... It was very good and a pleasant surprise. Dis Xmas grocery shopping at H-E-B and saw the 24 bottles. I had to send the wife back to San Marcos to get me a six pack... Merry Christmas and thank you Shiner.

Shiner Fresh Hop IPA has a thick, ivory head, an opaque orange appearance, with stratified levels of murkiness, from the "swish & pour", and moderate glass lacing. The aroma is of dank hop resins, orange marmalade, and sour & sweet bread crust. The flavor is similar, with practically no bitterness (rather old bottle date). Mouthfeel is high medium, and Shiner Fresh Hop IPA finishes mostly dry.

Pours and extremley cloudy deep gold. the head is two fingers with excellent retention. There is a lot of lacing in the form of rings around the mug.
Very juiciy nose. Its got a mix of citrus and stone fruits with some nice floral notes.
Its quite bitter but not unbalanced. A citrus bitterness hits you upfront but through and through the beer has an awesome semi sweet citrus juice quality to it that balances it out. Its quite tasty.
Feels wet. Light to medium bodied. Carbonation is on the medium size and very effervescent.

poured from bottle into a dogfish "perfect ipa" glass
A: super hazy, deep orange body. thick cream head settles on down to nice cap. high retention and lacing
S: dense hop pine with a sweet peach and malty back (thought occurs: did Shiner just make a dank ipa??)
T: follows the nose with lush peach/apricot/bright fruit, rushing into a dank hoppy pine burst, fading into a nice bittersweet grapefruit...maintains that lush feeling. pine sticks around as well for sure
F: high carbonation, medium body, and fades from lush to dry on the tongue. ---hard to gauge because my mouth is watering for more lol
Overall (personal opinion):
holy dank hops, batman. never thought i'd get an ipa like this out of Shiner. not even a huge neipa fan - which this brew seems to be attempting to mimic in style. it nails the lush fruit taste that most in the neipa style claim to accomplish thanks to the peach business. well balanced, insanely enjoyable.
