Similar to the Little Thumper, but more of a cohesive beer, IMO. Lots of toasty malt, more of the fruit (fresh fig, persimmon, berries) and those wonderful grassy/floral goldings hops. The mouthfeel is luscious, and the bitterness is just about as high as it could be pushed before really taking over.
I got a soda keg fill of this beer for a party so I can definitely attest to the drinkability. These babies went down eeeasy- glad I got it!

Just read reviews for Magic Hat #9. Poured out a golden orange color, foamy off white head, fairly clear. The nose had some nice malt and spicy hopness, but had overwhelming apricot. The taste echoed the nose, apricot everywhere. Finished clean and tasty, great sessioner.

Enjoyed direct from the tank at the breweery.
Served as a hazy amber colored beer with modest white head. Little retention.
Smell is a nice combination of bready malt and grassy hops.
Taste is also a bice combination of the malt and hops, but the hops seem a bit too strong.
Finish is long and bitter in the outh.
A nice beer that was good, but my least favorite of the 4 I tried at the brewery.

Appearance:
Pours a hazy orange topped by a thin white film that settles almost instantly.
Aroma:
Very biscuity with some floral bitter notes. Appealing but muted.
Taste/Mouthfeel:
A nice mild bitter, though lacking in the sublimely smooth mouthfeel I have come to expect from Defiant. Flavors are balanced between the malty biscuit, and somewhat soapy/floral hops.
Notes:
Not a huge difference from it's relative "Little Thumper", this has ramped up the alcohol slightly, though not perceptibly, and notched up the IBU's as well. I like this, as I have liked all of Neill's beers, but it's not my favorite.
