Style: American Pale Lager

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.80%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
When Fat Mike of NOFX told us he was interested in brewing a beer, the first thing we said was, "Why are you calling us at 3am and how did you get our number?" Turns out he was serious (for once) and after completely ignoring the advice of our legal team, we figured we would give it a shot. The result is Stone & NOFX Punk In Drublic Hoppy Lager. Which, against all odds, is really f***ing good.

This is no light, corporate, tasteless beer for drinking on the beach. We’re still Stone. And punk is not dead yet. This is a hopped-up, bold, flavorful lager that the authority figures in your life are sure to hate. So crack one open and revel in this self-entitled beer.

Ok. Honestly there are many better similar offerings so kinda a let down from Stone. Even the new Sam pilsner is superior. That said it is a good alternative to a macro lager. And I love NOFX. But kinda weaker than it shoud be

Picked up a single from TW Arrowhead 10-9-17 for $2.29. Canned on 8-16-17 and best by 12-14-17.

Beer poured golden with an okay white head that dissipated quickly.

Nose is predominately pilsner malt.

Taste is a nice refreshing pilsner malt base that gets overrun by the green melon hopping. Finish is too vegetal for me.

Mouthfeel is crisp, clean, and refreshing.

Overall this is a decent hoppy lager but my palette does not enjoy a green hop finish.

L - Pale yellow with a medium frothy white head. Tons of clarity.
S - Malt and wheat are very noticeable. Some notes of honey with very light notes of hops.
T - Follows the nose with big notes of malt and wheat up front followed by mild/moderate hop bite. Notes of honey interlaced as well.
F - medium body with a medium/high amount of carbonation.
O - I was pretty excited for this one but I feel somewhat let down. I don't really know what I was expecting, but I was expecting more - usually Stone more than delivers but not this time. To me, this pale lager is just average: it's got your standard american pale lager flavor profile with malt, wheat, and hops. It's good and very drinkable, but it just doesn't stand out in any way.

An interesting direction for Stone but curious about this IPL for sure.

Pours a typical golden yellow, very light beerish but with a nice creamy white head of foam and even lace.

The aromas here are very Pilsner-esque.. subtle honey, pale malt, wheat. About what I’d expect. Not bad but nothing special.

A crushable beer. Noticeable hop presence, again with flavors to match the aroma. The bitterness lingers around subtle floral notes, bready malt, and corn (which is definitely noticeable on the nose as well once I pinpointed it).

Crisp, light, refreshing. It drinks like a light German beer and is a great beer for a shit-faced day watching NOFX under the blazing sun at a local festival.. or at least that’s what I envisioned....

For all intents and purposes, looks like a well made helles lager
Broad light hoppy aroma: a little herbal, a little floral, a little citrus, a little spice. Whiff of sulphur and doughy malt
Nice orange-y hop flavor, more doughy pils malt.
Light bodied and refreshing.
Great as a lawnmower beer. I could have a few.

Friday night we’ll be drinkin’ Man…errr..…a Stone NOFX collaboration? Holy shit, the fat ‘brew’ brewed a brew… or apparently just showed up to get in the way. So rock your anti-swatstika tattoo and drink the fuck up. It will be difficult not to flashback to the countless hours in ’94 spent playing the cassette in the JVC, scrounging for Killians on the good days and suffering through Milwaukee’s Beast on the bad.

Pours piss yellow, with a country hair of lacing …so I wiped it off…

T&M - Pilsner, sweet w/o cloying, trop fruit..dry, slightly bitter on finish.

O - as expected. good, sessionable..Stone should add to the rotation and distribute to the east coast.

The Stone punks not dead shtick is about as punk rock as my old ass who has long sold out to a corporate life and a steady paycheck, but staring at the can is worth the great memories of the grinding hiss of an old tape deck and dozens of empties piling up in an futile attempt to “wash down the noise” of the last night’s altered state. It would have been great to have a beer like this to get it done…but really who am I to say what the fuck is really good or bad about this beer… back to kitchen, I smell sumthin’ burnin! …didja get that in there?
