Barrel Aged Blueberry Cobbler Turbo Shandy – from Hoppin’ Frog. 16 fl oz can acquired from Rare Beer Club. Picked up at the brewery 12/12/23. Reviewed 13/12/23 (Review 3193). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
On bottom of can “??? ON OCT 6 2023”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 55.7 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 60.4 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.5
First pour – Cerise (SRM ?), hazy.
Body – Purple (SRM ?), opaque. Under direct light, same.
Head: Average (Maximum three cm, aggressive center pour), Baker-Miller pink, high density with a few scattered large bubbles, average retention, dropping to a 0.6 – 1.0 cm undulating crown, and a thin, rocky cap.
Lacing – Excellent! Three-dimensional wide band of near-microscopic bubbles to a few large, connected completely to the crown.
Aroma – 4 – Cinnamon leads, followed by blueberry. No malt, no yeast, no alcohol (7 % ABV as marked on the label).
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly sweet with cinnamon, blueberry, and some oaty richness. No yeast, no alcohol (7 % ABV as marked on the label). No vanilla (My taste buds demand it be strong to detect it) and no whiskey or barrels. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Initially, barely noticeable gastric warming which builds slowly to a comfortable level, probably as much due to the cinnamon as the alcohol.
Palate – 4 – Medium; creamy; soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Looks good, smells great! Even without any aroma/flavor from the whiskey barrels, it’s delicious!

Appearance is less vibrantly violet, with an almost dark sherry reddish hue now, but still under a pastel blueish-purple tinged head that's also shorter than the base.
A little boozier than the base, vanillin threads, as well as more dark fruit--like a little spiced date--now accent the intense cinnamon-blueberry explosion of gooey and rich cobbler filling. The cinnamon is super aromatic to start, but settles down a little over the session.
I may actually like unaged Turbo slightly more, at least judging by the final score, but this is delicious in its own unique way.
