Burnt Toast is a cool name, but really not very descriptive of this beer. It's basically a mild brown ale (as are most brown ales in my experience), not excessively charred or burnt at all, neither in appearance or smell nor taste. It's very smooth, just a little bit caramel, and just a little hoppy bitterness on the finish (barely noticeable). It's a very pleasant beer to have with a meal.

Purchased in a couple Build Your Own 6 packs at the brewery in a 12oz can
On the pour it's a sexy dark beer with a head that almost makes me think of Guinness for the first minute: fine and brown. Has pretty good lacing even before I've taken a sip. The beer itself is a very dark brown. Definitely not black, but it's on the verge of going from translucent to fully opaque.
The smell is largely dark bready malts with some bright yet subtle aromatic hops. Pretty mild, but on the brewery's website they do describe it as an english brown so it fits. Perhaps something to be updated here.
The taste brings much more bitterness than expected for the style and even the aroma. The malts are definitely stong and good for the style but the bittering hops are quite intense, so american brown is a label that should stick. Perhaps I was just caught off guard on the first sip as it isnt nearly as bitter as some of the ipas and imperial stouts out theres, but it did seem more than necessary in this beer and the hops dont bring much else but the bitterness, which is ok in this style but less ok when you've got a fair amount of bittering hops. The bitterness does seem to fade as your drink more and beer hasnt touched my lips in a few days so it could be me.
Feel is relatively drinkable and not all that thick for the style, but not watery. However it does kind of dissipate quickly leaving only a bit of the bitterness behind after drinks. Apart from the hops though this is actually very good.
Overall could be more balanced but the malt profile is what I am looking for in a brown ale and as you drink more the bitterness does seem to fade, maybe start with something like a guinness to start your drinking off then move to this stuff. Dark a bit toasty and the darkness sticks with you for a bit.

It was a deep chocolate brown when poured indoors, but when raised to the mountain sunlight "in toast", this deeply brown ale has a slightly red-gold tint. The head was uniform after pour, but faded in a couple of minutes. On the nose, before taste, the aromas of toffee and hints of dark rich breads are received. On taste, the toffee, malts and slight coffee hints come through and I forget my false assumptions about anything "burnt" or chocolate notes. Very smooth and flavorful, but any bitterness is hidden by the malt. Sampled in a flight at the brewery and re-tested later from a Growler.

The color appears as a dull, orange-brown color with a thick, sticky off-white head; lots of lacing adhering to the glass. The smell exudes a sweet, ripe orange and fig-like aroma. The taste is very sour and tart. Medium body.
Well, perhaps I got a bad bottle, but the sour flavor just isn't acceptable and the aroma just doesn't jive with a brown ale character. I find very little indication of a brown ale maltiness or style in the taste. The flavor was very much of wine and green apples. Otherwise, the looks are great! But good looks don't prevent me from pouring the remains down the drain. A big disappointment as I was looking forward to a decent malt-forward brown ale.

Its dark milk chocolate brown, relatively still, but with a short tan lazy head... The first taste that hits my mouth is a smooth sweet malt followed by mild hop and slight aftertaste of brown sugar. Very smooth and flavorful for a brown ale as the bitterness balances the malt perfectly It was a great choice with lunch in Colorado at Peace of Art Cafe in Del Norte!

burnt toast, such an appealing name for a brown ale, and its a pretty good one, one of the better three barrel beers I've had lately. its dark milk chocolate brown, relatively still, but with a short tan lazy head. some haze to this, but i wouldn't call it yeasty. a slightly burnt nose, but less than its name suggests. chocolate malt aromas and dark bread, fresh, without any appreciable hop profile. the taste lacks hops too, but i don't miss it because the roastiness of the malt. its bitter enough. body is medium, and while the beer isn't terribly unique, its well made, and it doesn't have any of that sweetness in the finish that the english ones sometimes do. i could drink several of these, which is more than i can say for some of the other three barrel brews. sturdy and serviceable brown ale overall. more bubbles would help it though.
