600ml bottle
5.3% ABV
Main/Bronte LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
September 9, 2014
$6.00
The beer pours a translucent medium gold with a half inch white head which lasts a long time. The aroma is grains, light spice, yeast, and weak hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grainy, with some herbal hops and light spice notes.

Appearance: Poured with a half finger of head that managed to produce lace and put a good effort to stick around, but ended up just a small island. The body shows steady carbonation with a pale slightly hazy gold colour.
Smell: A light note of grassy and citrus hops and a bit of grain and that's it. Warming doesn't really help it's case at all here. Nothing bad, just notably absent.
Taste: Starts with a mild, neutral grain taste with a slight touch of sweetness that builds into a sweet malt note that gives off a mutligrain honeybread kind of vibe which builds up to a crisp snap of grassy and citrus hops that know exactly how long to stay as they quickly depart leaving only the barest aftertaste to note their presence.
Mouthfeel: Very crisp like a good Pilsner should be as only small notes of citrus and grassy hops remain leaving a mild pleasant aftertaste. The transitioning is a bit quick but done well. Carbonation tends to help the crisp snap at the end of the beer more then the start of the beer.
Drinkability: Light bodied, very easy to drink, very refreshing and very easy on the system. I would love it if I could get this beer in a 12 pack. I could drink this beer at any time and enjoy it.
Final Thoughts: I must say I'm impressed, this was one of the better Pilsners I've had. It has that snap that doesn't overstay it's welcome. I honestly wish this stuff was Beau's flagship beer instead of Lug Tread, which is good in it's own right, don't get me wrong. It' just this stuff was great. Thumbs Up

600ml bottle poured into a pint glass. ABV 5.3%.
L - Poured a hazy gold with a 1cm bubbly head. It quickly reduced to some surface bubbles. Visible bubbles. A bit of lacing on the glass.
S - Light aroma. Some bread, some grass, some spice.
T - Bready malts, hint of citrus, a bit of spice. Balance is on the malty side.
F - Medium carbonation, medium body, smooth texture, clean finish.
O - Easy to drink. Not strong flavoured and not as crisp as I'd expect for a Pilsner but still a good beer overall.

600 mL bottle from their Oktoberfest mixed pack; bottled Sept 3 2014 and served well-chilled.
Pours a cloudy golden-yellow colour, topped with one centimetre of creamy, white head. It recedes steadily over the next few minutes, depositing some scattered lace before leaving behind a thin, soapy film. The aroma is dull, but otherwise clean and basically what I expect from an organic pilsener - grainy cereal malts, bready sweetness, and a light grassy, floral note.
This is actually a very good pilsener - straightforward, clean-tasting and extremely drinkable. Grainy barley malts, bread and honey sweetness, leading into a pleasantly grassy, floral hop finish. Slightly bitter, and a little dry in the aftertaste, with a hint of sulphur. Light-bodied, with assertive carbonation that gives this brew a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel. Like their Lug Tread, this is very easy to drink quickly, and likely to appeal to most German lager fans.
Final Grade: 4.00, an A-. Happy Pilsner is probably one of the best domestic examples of this style that I've ever had the pleasure of trying. While pilseners are fairly mundane, Beau's has still done them justice by producing a quality, traditional pils that is easily capable of competing with anything from across the pond. I'd happily drink this lager again, but the likelihood of that would really depend on the price point - I mean, imported pilseners are pretty cheap, and are more than capable of filling this niche.
