Can from Brewers Haven. Initial aroma and pour had me thinking this was right on. Taste quickly becomes overly sweet, Some peppery accents that almost burn like a DIPA. Seems right on the surface, but fig deeper and its slightly flawed.

Dark copper. Slight hazy and with a white head. Smells of bread yeast, brown sugar and wheat flour. The flavor is a mix of rich seedy bread, buttery croissant, and a yeasty funk. There's probably even a carmelized brown sugar along with tropical fruitiness of a little mango but primarily pineapple. Zesty lemon finishes the yeasty funk with a clever crispness. Most farmhouse ales shy away from the hops. I appreciate how well rounded this is. A bit if graphite and steel mineral lingers longer on the tongue. The beer is medium bodied. It finishes crisp but still leaves the longer mineral aftertaste. As a while, I like this beer. It takes a very cleaver twist with the farmhouse ale style and then adds a bigger malt undertone with more hops than normal which really rounds out out the flavor profile. Quite a fascinating beer.

Poured into a Gavroche tulip. Pours a medium coppery amber with active carbonation, a fine one finger light khaki head with great retention and lots of lacing. Remarkable aroma of bready and saison yeast, bready malt, cinnamon caramel, estery and floral; very enticing. Flavor of bready malt, saison yeast, black pepper, earthy light funk, light grassy and floral hops; semi dry finish with coriander and hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess, nice mouth feel, perhaps a touch overcarbonated. A somewhat malty flavored saison, but with a nice semi dry profile and good lightly funky saison yeast flavor. Interesting light flavors of toffee and floral hops that I found very appealing. Not a strictly traditional saison, but in my opinion better for it. I like dry, lightly funky saisons and not tart ones. This adds an element of maltiness to that profile and the whole ale worked well for me. I will buy this again. Another interesting well made ale from this great brewery. The aroma of this is to die for.
