Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 12/27/22.
Appearance: rich, dark brown hue, with a hazy body; it's impenetrable to the light except for highlights around the edges. Head is two fingers of frothy tan foam with a nice cascading effect. It's for sure pretty.
Smell: sweet and malty with a nice roasty element; there are dark fruits and tobacco here, but also a bit of a soy-sauce-and-shoe-leather pungency. It's good, but not refined.
Taste: very sweet indeed, with definite dark fruit flavors of raisin, date, cherry, and tobacco. The soy sauce is less present in the flavor, which is good. There's plenty of alcohol heat, too. I think it's solid.
Mouthfeel: medium body and carbonation. It's got perhaps a little bit of a syrupy thing going on, but it's not exactly creamy.
Overall: an interesting beer. It has a lot to its flavor profile that I really like, and while it's not perfect, it'll make a very nice dessert treat.

Look: Dark as used motor oil.
Smell: is coffee, molasses, licorice, & hint of cherry.
Taste: follows nose with a bit of vanilla.
Feel: Mouthfeel is creamy & full.
Overall: An excellent brew. You see some consistency in style with this stout to their Barrel Aged Matryoshka.
I recommend them both.

Used motor-oil thick pour, pitch black. Aroma is coffee, molasses, anise/licorice. Sip and get all the preceding plus vanilla bean. Just enough bitterness to keep things intersting. Long finish, the stiff 9% ABV is noticeable only as a warm feeling. This would be an excellent companion on a cold, rainy night.

L: Black as night hue, entirely opaque. Viscosity immediately obvious, nearly has wine legs. A caramel fluffy head forms, similar to root beer
S: Maple syrup and dark chocolate, followed by roasted barley. Hints of licorice and cherry come and go. Very sweet nose and slow development.
T: A deep maple flavor lightened by coconut that is then replaced by a warm roasted sensation and finally a boozy finish. Sweet at the start, chocolatey in the middle, and bitter at the end. Complex stages on the palate.
F: Heavy and viscous, syrupy and potent spending considerable time in the mouth. Low carbonation.
The nose on the Waves of Silence was most outstanding going through several distinct complementary stages, however, with such a great nose it left more to be desired as of taste. It was delicious, but the boozy finish was harder hitting than i expected, and I'm aware it is 9%. The feel was dandy but not crushable. A splendid end of day stout this is, even as a dessert. Well done.

Unknown age out of a can into a pint glass, CAPSIZE edition.
The color is a solid opaque oilly black, with a marvelous 3 finger tan caramel head and amazing retention that settles into great lacing. The nose is sweet berry and chocolate, for me. The taste is chocolate, candied berries, maple syrup, molasses, and roasted malt, in that order. The finish lingers and continues to evolve for quite a while. The body is silky and oily, full as all hell, and finishes wet..
This is one of the better stouts I have had, fantastic offering from Ft. George.

When I can find Fort George Waves of Silence I buy. Delicious sipping Imperial Stout. Not too bitter. Not too sweet. Now if they would barrel age some . . .

16oz tallboy can, purchase place and price forgotten, although I know I've had it for several months. It's the variant known as "Allision", often misspelled Allison here on BA. Per Fort George, it was canned on December 12, 2018, and is an imperial stout brewed with Cascade and Saaz hops, a whole lotta malts ("2-Row Barley, Flaked Oats, Golden Naked Oats, Chocolate Malt, Dark Chocolate Malt, Special B, Roasted Barley, C-40, Black Barley"), "Whole Medjool Dates, Date Sugar, Brown Sugar" as adjuncts and was apparently brewed with an ESB yeast. So...an Imperial Adjunct Oatmeal Stout?
Poured into a Fort George nonic glass (thanks again, Ben!), this was an inky black, with a very thin, tan head. A vigorous swishing produced spotty, short-lived lace.
Initial nose was of sweet and bitter dark malts, giving off aromas of brown sugar, molasses and coffee. A bit of dark fruit scents creep in as it warms, but it's pretty low in the mix.
The taste is much like the aroma, but the dark fruitiness that is presumably being provided by the dates is more noticeably evident, especially in the latter half of the taste. Still, the brown sugar is the strongest element.
A little thin in the body for an imperial stout this big, especially one brewed with oats, among other malts. Mouthfeel is a little watery, but also a bit oily.
Decent, but nothing to rave about. I'll perhaps try another variant of this later today.

This edition is "BURGEE" (see bottom of the can). Fort George says its "Brewed with brown sugar, orange peel, Dutch cocoa powder, and Papau New Guinea coffee."
Appearance is oily dark brown. There's virtually no foam but it has the lovely "melt in the mouth" creamy carbonation. Flavors are well melded and nothing jumps out jarringly. There is some dark coffee and raisins. I don't taste the other ingredients. It's moderately sweet but tangy with some fruity acidity.
This is an interesting variation on the American IS. It's plenty rich but not unctuous, the cocoa emerges after some sipping, and there is a massive amount of dark roasted malt. The citrus notes add to the sipability. It's another beer worth tasting from Ft. George, and especially to look for the codes on the bottom of the 16 oz can.

16oz can served in a big snifter. No date. But it says "CAPSIZE" on the bottom.
Pours black with a medium head and medium to high carbonation (at least, for an imperial stout). Smell is roasty, nutty, a little coffee and chocolate.
Taste is roast bitterness, coffee and chocolate. Good, but could be a bit more intense. Maybe it'll improve as it warms up a bit -- I'll come back and edit if I notice a significant difference.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly light and thin. Not too much so -- just light feeling for an imperial stout. Overall, it's good. I like it.
