As always, Ft G delivers.
I don’t get a lot of that citra. Maybe some guava & passionfruit. Sweet on the nose esp as it warms.
Great beer. I’m not sure it really qualifies as a super fresh hop but it is worth picking up as Fall fades.

 

these guys continue to find a way to make better beer than everyone else, either with similar processes or ingredients, what they do is so diverse but also so elite, its amazing, and for this being a little old here in december, its also still drinking tip top, wow. done with ruse, and leagues of fresh strata, a hazy ipa, low bitterness, this is such good beer! looks thicker than it drinks, dull yellow, washed out, some white head, no chunks or anything but its pretty full for sure. nose on it is actually not strata to me right away, notes of lemongrass and coconut water more akin to other strains, but it turns more strata in the flavor with that herbal thing, verbena and honeysuckle and preserved lemon, some of that i could smell too, sativa and grape candy and white tea, still very fresh, dank, wheaty i think, but really smooth and refreshing somehow, not ferment driven at all but yeasty in a subtle way that adds complexity, fully strata hops later, no mistaking them at temperature which rules, key lime, coconut, watermelon, dabs. lovely beer overall, no doubt done with wet hops, every detail rules, classic fort george beating everyone else at their own game. i have an unborn son that i hope gets to taste this someday, memorable at that mega level, among the best of fresh hop season for me, especially this late in the game...

L - a surprisingly hazy fresh hop IPA. why? In any case, solid appearanc, good head, and a small amount of lacing as it descends the glass.
S - the aroma is a little disappointing and one-note as most hazies tend to be; it just gets muddled like citrus, oranges, tangerines, clementines, and grassy resin 'juana. But mostly it just comes off as citrus and sharp.
T - redeems on taste, as the depth of citrus becomes discernible in a layered effect, almost like a tiered cake; sweet lemon, then orange, then tangerines, then a hint of citrus oil in the end, with just the faintest effect of resinous fresh hop.
F - good balance, no hop burn, tart, and a little mouth puckering.
O - another solid light IPA from Fort George, but I really (really) don't understand the need or drive to make a hazy fresh hop. It's about fresh hops, right? Not murk, show your STRATA game!

16oz can served in a big snifter. Dated 09/12/24. Bought it at Ridgewood two weeks ago.

Pours pale whitish yellow, murky, little head, just a thin dusting across the surface. Smell is gorgeously juicy framed nicely by grass and resin.

Taste is right there with it -- tons of orange, some pineapple. Orange zest and orange rind bitterness.

Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side for a hazy. Overall, it's really good.
