If you’re reading this, you’re in the west. But you could be more west.
We all like a nice, clear, snappy and flavorful West Coast IPA. But how do we make it more? We can make it more IPA (just look at all those hops we put in it), we can make it more Coast (we’ve been all over this coast tasting every delicious beer that we could get our hands on). But how do we make it MORE West? Brew it in Astoria, of course.

Westmore is a sharp and fruity West Coast IPA from Oregon’s most west brewery.

From a 4-pack picked up at Target in Beaverton, OR
16oz can poured into a Buoy can-shaped glass

P yellow w/ a slight chill haze; small, almost-1f white head; quick recession
N med-bold inviting juicy oranges and semi-sweet berries
T follows nose with bright citrus and strawberries over light biscuit; really nice; orange comes back in the aftertaste, followed by berries
Mf light-med to med, med to med-high carb
O another solid IPA from FG; enjoyed the berry-citrus combo

Pint from draft at the spot for $8. One of three classic WCIPAs available. And it’s definitely classic. Massive hop presence and as dank as it gets. Big time citrus. Too easy to drink.

16oz pint consumed at Community Pint, in Spokane, WA, for $7.50.

Golden, chill-hazed amber color, with a good sized off-white head, and curtains of lace.

Aroma is of tropical fruits and citrus fruit. In that order.

Tropically fruity hops hit the taste bud beach head at first. Things then get more citrusy. The finish is relatively mellow and soft, almost like a NEIPA.

For something advertised as an Uber WCIPA, it sure seems like a hazy in the mouthfeel depth.

Fort George is talking this beer up like it's the be-all, end-all of WCIPAs, but it sure seems to have hazy characteristics in the finish and in the mouth feel. Having said that, it's a tasty beer.

Rated 3-24-2024. This beer pours a clear golden color with a very minimal head. The aroma is tropical fruit with some sweetness. It has a nice smooth hop bitterness that is not overpowering. BOD 2-4-2024. REALLY good IPA.

i love that so many fort george beers make it to boise, and i love how good they all are, these guys rule and everyone around here knows it, but i still feel like they are one of the more unsung operations in the country operating at this level, top tier through and through. this one is a masterclass in refinement, a clear yellow west coast ipa with a big old hop bursted intensity to it, plenty of bitterness, and a simple pils forward malt base with seemingly no frills, less can be more it appears. totally blonde and clear, fizzy white head from the tap with pretty good stick. it smells and tastes the same, uniquely mineral forward and well grounded despite the lightness of the malt and the body, crackery and dry and clean, but with like a graphite and soil-esque thing going on, cool. the hops ride this nicely, definite pink grapefruit to me, early onset citrus bitterness, even faint tang from somewhere, clean pine, pineapple, lemongrass, and sprite. grainy, bitter, and dry at the end with an almost cold fermented snap to it, seriously crisp and tidy for an ipa. rushing carbonation and a minimal body make it really drinkable, yet its also kind of sneaky strong for what it is, and the higher bitterness slows it it just slightly, super well executed, another ipa worthy of some hype from these guys, truly fantastic. count me among the biggest fort george fans...

edit: loving this from the can too, sick label design, great balance and drinkability, almost has a cold fermented lager snap to it, its that quick even with all the hops, very much the new west coast style, and flawlessly done, perfect for summer weather, this beer makes me happy.

FORT GEORGE WESTMORE IPA 7ABV
It pours a light yellow in color with a medium head. A fruity smell and taste that lighter than some hazys with semi sweet citrus, pineapple rind, and aproict rind taste. It’s a wonderful refreshing beer I highly recommend.

Clear bright golden yellow brew with plenty of foam in the Chimay chalice. Light melon aroma with cucumber in the nose. Spritzy and tangy on the tongue with a light body. The flavor is unusual and not so overly bold. Tastes like more of the green melon with a hint of lemon. Rather sharp with a bitter aftertaste. Thoroughly quaffable and pleasant. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station.

Look: Clear light orange to dark yellow with a lush, pure white head that quickly forms, slowly settling to a lid and leaving nice lacing behind

Aroma: Pine, grapefruit, Cara cara orange, fruit and gassy Cannabis, wafts of mango and papaya, berries, and sweet bready malt

Taste: Opens up with a pithy hit of citrus fruit including oranges, tangerines, and grapefruit along with resinous pine that all quickly intermingle and deepen. Dank and berries reign in the middle and light tropical fruit dances in the background until it closes with the return of citrus, pine, and a nice bite

Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, clean, medium-high carbonation, and lightly dry on the finish

Overall: I dig it. This is a nice, tasty, and well-made WCIPA that hits all the right notes to my palate with its citrus/pine/dank/berry/tropical fruit flavor/aroma mix and has an older-school feel as well. Another winner from these folks and one I’ll be enjoying a lot while it’s around

Canned 2/19. Not very much on the FG website. A WCIPA, that's all.

Pour is clean and clear, light head with a decent helping of a citrus aroma, a hint of pine and just a touch of root-cellar dankness. Some hop bite on the tongue, then settles down with a good lingering aftertaste. Carbonation is fine, ABV of 7%. Ft. George appears to be able to crank out any style of IPA they wish without so much as breaking a sweat.

Great can art.
