Fresh hop IPA with Strata
Fresh IPA was the first Fresh Hop beer we ever packaged. Each year we look for the newest, tastiest hops on the planet, then we take them - fresh off the bine - and dump them into a beer. This year, we loaded up the hop back with 500 pounds of Fresh Strata Hops from Coleman Agriculture.
Full of bright, zesty fresh Strata, Fresh IPA (2024) has been finely tuned and perfectly calibrated to go well with the end of summer, the beginning of the hop harvest, shorter days, longer nights, an increase in spiders and a decrease in sunburns.
From the bine, to the can, to your taste buds in just a matter of days, Fresh IPA is best consumed FRESH.
Hops: Indie Strata, Fresh Coleman Strata
Malts: GW Premium 2Row, GW Pure Idaho, Weyermann Acidulated, Carafoam
Yeast: WLP001

Clear and foamy amber brew, on the golden side, in Orval glass. Aromatic with woods, straw, and green herbs. This is not your fruit bomb. Very spritzy, crackling between the teeth and tongue. Tangy with a touch malt and a dry finish. This is actually rather elegant for a fresh hop brew. It is hard to pigeonhole but certainly should give the Strata hop some note. Overall this is clean and clear, light and bright, and thoroughly quaffable. From the 16 oz can purchased at the restaurant in Astoria. Dated 9-11-2024.

Draft at CopenRoss. Clear golden pour, small white foamy head. Aroma is hoppy, grassy, fruity. Taste is hoppy, fresh, , biscuity, fruity, smooth with a little hop resin.

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Canned on 09/11/24. Bought it PCC Bothell.
Pours clear brassy yellow with a small, dense head. Smell is nice -- fragrant, resinous, hop-field-y.
Taste is right in the same vein, pleasant balance between honey and fruit sweetness and resin and grass bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium to light, smooth, maybe a bit more carbonation would be nice but certainly not a necessity. Overall, very good.

16oz can purchased at Huckleberry's, in Spokane, WA, for $3.99. according to the stamp on the bottom of the can, this was packaged on September 11th, 2024.
Poured into a 16 oz glass, this was a clear golden amber color. Big, sudsy, bone white head. Lots of lace. Looks great!
Nose was of stone fruits and tropical fruits and melons.
Bright, fruity hop flavor up front, as advertised in the nose. Little bit of a crackery malt backbone, but this is very much the hops' show.
Medium bodied, with an oily, resiny mouth feel that nevertheless finishes relatively clean.
This might be my favorite fresh hop beer of the year. Drinks like a dream. I'll let other people chase after Cowiche Canyon and go back and get more cans of this.
