A Bourbon Barrel Aged Fluffernutter Sandwich Inspired Imperial Stout. Need we say more?
Adversarial Patterns is a collaboration between Structures Brewing and Fort George. Aged for 36 months in Willet Bourbon Barrels and conditioned on marshmallow, chocolate, vanilla, peanuts and hazelnuts. Is it a dessert? Is it breakfast? Is it an act of defiance against the neural network or is it a fashion statement? Whatever it is, it’s dang good.
Brewer's Notes

a fluffernutter stout, wild. delicious too, sweet and loaded with extras but not overdone, it doesnt present as forced and it drinks way better than the novelty level it sounds like it would fall into, its smooth and high end, the base beer and the barrel treatment alone would make this wonderful, and i think three years in barrels has done a lot for this. chocolate, marshmallow, vanilla, peanut, and hazelnut also added, and i think it comes together especially well. enormous base stout, the abv is a factor, huge body, strong the whole way, thick enough to kind of look like its struggling to come out of the tap, not much head here, major viscosity, darn close to black. strong whiskey in the nose which brings up the vanilla addition and i think also the marshmallow, these are the most prominent early elements along with the roast, i get brown sugar and molasses sweetness there, its gooey and melty and really appealing, the nuts are present, peanut in front of hazelnut for sure, somewhat oily to me, natural for sure, the chocolate is wrapped up with all the dark malt, its cohesive and woody and deeply intriguing, and in fact does smell like a fluffernutter, even breadcrust character in here that adds to that. the flavor is powerful but the base stout is not lost to the additives, rather enhanced by them, the nuts are more prominent, the sweetness isnt too much, at least in small doses, and the vanilla and marshmallow complexion is right on. dark chocolate, barrel char, raisin, toast, high end bourbon all the way including the alcohol aspect, long on the palate, woody, very mature while still tasting fresh and potent, quite a bit of real peanut late, this is awesome. palate coating and intense, but extremely well executed. amazing to encounter this on tap, fort george has absolutely become one of my favorite breweries anywhere!

An unabashed dessert beer. Kudos to Fort George for putting in the time and effort. Best when sipped in the smallest 'gulps' possible. In that vein it's a delicious treat.....full of Vanilla, Marshmellows, and Peanuts (?). Limit yourself to 8 oz. servings and you're in the groove.

5oz in a snifter at The Bine in Bothell. Review entered from notes.
Pours thick, black, still, no head except a few sparse bubbles along the edge. Smell is peanut butter and chocolate syrup and vanilla. Smells like an ice cream topping. Taste is same, bringing out milk chocolate and some roasty coffee. Very sweet, vanilla even more noticeable. Mouthfeel is thick, rich velvet. Nice...in small quantities.
