Specifically, apple brandy barrel were used.
The color is a lovely copper with a relatively thin layer of head. The nose had the distinct apple brandy essence but it was also just straight-up boozy.
I really enjoyed the flavor profile of the non-barrel aged version. This version seemed thinner and the flavor was just not enough to hold up to the strong apple brandy notes. Barrel aged beers are at their best when the barrel adds something to the beer; in this case, the barrel flavors overwhelmed the beer.
