Another selection from a round of drinking after skiing. Can't beat them 4 oz pours that aren't at some exorbitant price per oz point that punishes you for being responsible (moreso).
Anyhoo, gold in the name beer pours a golden color. They call it straw. Nice 1/2" white head. Mild run of the mill lager yeast note. Light grain sensation in tandem. Bittering hops are present.
The taste delivers on what they said it would be. Its a pre war pilsner, meaning just slightly more heft in the bittering and overall size departments. Don't go expecting some Live Oak level of pre war excellence, and you'll be satisfied. Drinking moreso than thinking beer. Doesn't necessarily have the drier mouthfeel I go looking for. Goes to the weight, not the admissibility as litigation often uses the refrain. While well carbonated, it doesn't necessarily translate to the degree of crispness on the back end. This aspect of the beer (I've had numerous times) seems the most inconsistent. Haven't had it out of a can, so perhaps we're talking retailer keg carbonation psi issues, but I dunno.

What you would expect with the clear yellow and highly carbonated white head for appearance. Smells a bit earthy and of spicy hops, with just a hint a of sweet malt. Taste follows, but a little less sweet than expecting or hoping for, and feels very carbonated. Refreshing and overall a good American style Pilsner. Cheers!

Got a growler from the Alehouse. (day after purchase)
A: Crystal clear, straw colored. large head, roughly 2 fingers but i poured very aggressively
S: light bready, faint hops. i almost get a kinda sweet white wine grape smell.
T: super smooth, bready/malty flavor, some bitterness to balance. Has a sweet taste at the front and goes into the hop flavors that are kinda grassy, at the end you can taste the lager yeast flavor. Really a good pilsner.that i think the best descriptor is smooth and crisp.
M: could be a more carbonated, but im not sure they got a good seal on the growler
O: Outstanding pilsner (won a gold medal at GABF). Its so smooth, crisp, and refreshing i could drink this all day

Thin head on a clear, golden colored body. A few bubbles coming up and good lacing.
It has a faint lemon smell.
The taste is moderate bitterness throughout with a sweet finish. Nice profile.
Crisp texture, moderate carbonation and medium body.
A tasty lager and good too.

From notes 11/4/2010. Tap, City Beer Store. Solid pilsner. Appearance is light gold, transparent. Nice white head. Aroma has a great blend of grassy hops and lager yeastiness. The grain note is fresh and tasty. Doesn’t go overboard with the hops. Dry, refreshing flavor. Mouthfeel is light and effervescent. I support any craft brewery making a serious stab at a lager.
