A pleasant full-flavored smooth beer aged in Jack Daniels whiskey barrels. A touch of bourbon in the nose combines with caramel, chocolate, vanilla, Old No. 7, and an innocent sweetness.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned in 7/2016. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, date, smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with decent strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, date, smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Mild herbal, floral, grassy, roasted bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, dark/brown bread, coconut, licorice, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet, and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that us great. Minimal warming alcohol or barrel booze for 6.9%. Overall this is a very good barrel aged English oatmeal stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish; great soft/silky feel. Well balanced between nicely rich malts and bourbon barrel presence/integration; mild earthy hops and restrained fruity English yeast notes. Mildly sweet with lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made English style example. Not a ton of barrel, but definitely adequate. Over-carbonated, but not detrimental to drink-ability.

BB Stout pours a black color with a small lacing head. Nice rich bourbon flavor with oak. Taste has a nice mellow bourbon flavors, wood, and a warm alcohol finish. Good body and feel. Overall its a nice stout.

Pours an opaque brown color with khaki colored head. Soft nose on this, but there is definitely barrel character, oak, vanilla, whiskey, along with the usual chocolate of and oatmeal stout; follows onto the palate. Full bodied, very smooth, easy drinking. Finishes with light barrel character and some nice sweet chocolate.

Poured 16oz can into pint glass. Deep black with one finger of khaki head that fades into a plump cap. Small spots of lacing on the glass. Aromas of roasted malts and sweet, milk chocolate and hints of caramel and vanilla. The flavor is mellow and allows the milk chocolate, cocoa, and cream from the stout to come through. Roasted malts, caramel and a just a touch of vanilla. Thinner body with a smooth feel and ample carbonation. Overall, think of this as a sessionable BB Stout. I doubt it is aged more than 3 months in the barrels as you won't pick up much in the flavor.

16 ounce can. Poured thin medium black with a small fast dissipating head. Sweet cocoa aroma. Smooth velvety mouthfeel. Nice chocolate taste with hints of bourbon. Good easy drinking bourbon barrel beer.

Pours dark brown with a one finger tan head. The aroma has chocolate, cocoa, and a little vanilla. No Bourbon in the aroma.
Tastes sweet, with chocolate, cocoa, caramel, light whiskey, and light coffee. Given that this beer has a 6.9 % abv, I did not expect the Jack Daniels whiskey barrel to come through very much, but it is present.
On the light side of medium bodied, with soft carbonation. Very smooth, which is not surprising, since this is an Oatmeal Stout. I think this is an average beer. Worth trying a can if you get the chance.

I am unsure what happened here, but this beer is super thin, I am getting barely any aroma or flavor from this beer. For being a bourbon aged beer I get no bourbon at all, no coffee or chocolate at all either. Overcarbinated as well. This tastes more like a pilsner to me. Keep trying though BF!
