Poured into a Fremont small snifter. 2016 date on the bottle, so a later bottling, but still a little seasoned (another "fresh" ale from Shelton Brothers). A gusher on opening, losing half the bottle before I got it in a glass. Pours a very hazy straw yellow with a one finger white head that dissipates quickly to patches with light lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, wild farmhouse yeast and brett, lemon; very funky. Flavor is dry grainy farmhouse malt, lots of brett, grapefruit and lemon rind, horseradish, overripe stone fruit. Finishes with dry bretty yeast funk and grassy hops; dry and earthy. Medium bodied with sharp carbonation. The aroma made me think this would be a tart wild yeast saison, but although this may be one of the most brett forward ales I've had, it is more dry and earthy with only a slight tartness. I'd like a little more grainy malt flavor, but the body in this supports the almost astringent brett pretty well. The brett is nearly over the top for my palate, but I really liked this and wish I had had a whold bottle to drink. Well done, funky and rustic.
