Pours lightly hazy magenta with a one-inch, rocky, off-white head. After a minute the head falls, leaving sticky lace and a thick ring on a Cisco pint glass. One column of rapid carbonation.
The aroma has a light funkiness, as one might expect from a Gose. It is reminiscent of wet socks. There is something herbal, possibly coriander. Sweetness is obvious.
After the first few sips, I am still uncertain what the base style is, however it is clearly not a Gose. Astringency is strong from beginning to end. I don't detect any beet or coriander flavors. Either warmth or acclimation is helping. The finish is long, bitter, and astringent. Maybe the base beer was a Cream Ale.
The thin body and texture is overwhelmed by spritzy carbonation. Imagine seltzer. Alcohol is mild and a little less than expected.
This is a decent beer, however it is one and done without regrets. Sometimes the experience of something new outweighs the enjoyment of the thing itself.
