Amber ale fermented with real apple pies from Grand Traverse Pie Company. Expect apple pie in a pint. Apples yield a slight cider flavor. Pie crusts yield notes of malt and biscuit. Cinnamon spice notes are subtle yet present. It's beer brewed with whole pies!

Nice beer samples on tap. Clean light amber color with minimal head and mild-to-moderate carbonation. Smells very faintly of apple. Tastes of apple, cinnamon and malt biscuit. Nice and clean, crisp and easy to drink. Thin mouthfeel with a clean finish. Scant alcohol flavor from start to end.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/14/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep orange amber/light copper color with a 1-2 finger foamy off white head with poor retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Minimal spotty lacing on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the lace cap. Good appearance. Aromas of slightly tart red/green apples, fruit skin, caramel, brown sugar, pie crust, toasted biscuit, nutmeg, cinnamon, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, apple pies, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of slightly tart red/green apples, fruit skin, caramel, brown sugar, pie crust, toasted biscuit, nutmeg, cinnamon, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spice bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of red/green apples, fruit skin, caramel, brown sugar, pie crust, toasted biscuit, nutmeg, cinnamon, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, apple pies, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spice balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.5%. Overall this is a very nice fruit/spiced American amber ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, apple pies, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, easy, and pretty refreshing to drink. Very classic tasting American amber ale flavors, with nice presence of real apple pies, and just enough hops to balance the sweetness. A very pleasant and enjoyable offering; and spot on style example.
