I enjoyed this on tap at the brewpub, served chilled in a glass.
The color is golden with good clarity -slightly hazed with small head that revives when swirled with white cap and fine bead. Visibly carbonated with spots of lace sticking. The smell is enjoyable with slight tangy scent and mild spice with a low smoke scent which increases as it warms with mild malt aroma with a slight lemony odor. The feel is excellent -nicely balanced with very gentle smoke and sour elements. There is a light grain texture with slight malt body with dry finish and medium high carbonation throughout.
The taste is very good with a nice tangy light lemony lactic entry with mild malt w/ a supplement of smoke in the taste and mild sweetness of pilsner malt I am assuming with a dry tangy finish that is refreshing. I like this style and this is a decent example with nice sourness level and sufficient smokiness that is not overdone -an easy beer to quaff especially if you enjoy beer on the sour side.

polish style smoked wheat beer apparently. Gotta try that.
This was a dull, hazy straw color. It came without a head.
An interesting and unique experience for sure. Lemon grass, lemon pith and wheat up front. This alone made it a fairly unique beer, tart and refreshing. The light smoke at the end really sets this apart though. Brilliant concept and well executed.

on tap at the brewpub last night. 4oz sample size, as I've not found smoked beers to be my thing. However, the description of this beer by the brewpub was intriguing, so....
A cloudy dark yellow body with a small white head, which persisted throughout. carbonation hard to detect, good lacing, even in a small serving.
Smell was quite pungent, some fruit, wheat, a little musty.
One of the oddest tasting beers I've tried recently. The overall flavor that came through was a musty, grainy, hay-like taste. Citrusy taste popped up a little, but not much. I didn't detect the smoke at all, which since I'm not a fan of that aspect, was fine by me.
Mouth was above medium, and had a sharp finish to it.
Overall, an interesting beer to sample. Perhaps it was because this was described as a polish beer, I kept thinking how good this would be with a big plate of fresh Kielbasa.

Had this on 2014-07-27 at the brewery
A - cloudy straw-orange with a very short whit head and little lace
S - very mild grain and lactic
T - Wheat, lemon tart, umami, smoke. Like a Berlinerweiss with a perfect , light touch of smoke. Great balance. Dry. Clean finish.
M - light body and carbonation. Refreshing.
O - Impressive.

Review from notes taken while drinking this on tap at selin's grove brewing and then from subsequent pours from multiple growlers. Served in a footed pils glass, the brew appears a clouded golden color with a white cap a finger strong that holds decent then fades leaving spotty lace.
The aroma initially is muted and overall very mild. What does emit from the glass is lemony lactic with a mild fresh wheat grain inclusion and then a very enjoyabke smoke addition emerges as it warms. The balance of fresh grain, fruity lemon accent and subtle smokiness is phenomenal.
The flavor is lemony tart upfront with a fresh grain character mid-palate tasting of wheat. The aftertaste has a very pleasant smokiness with it's own depth of flavor. A very nice balance of fresh grain sweetness meets smoke and lemony fruity tartness. The tasting experience is almost like you are drinking a berliner weisse and chasing it with a piece of bacon. Rinse and repeat.
This is a light bodied brew with a moderate amount of carbonation. It has almost a cleansing feel which is strange to say about a smoked beer. It is subtle, nuanced and absolutely crushable. This very well might be my favorite summer beer of 2014. An outstanding effort by SGB. Please keep up this creativity and experiementation. This interpretation of the style was fantastic.
