Fairly dark for an Oakham ale. Smells hoppy, initially get soapy hops but that's followed up by gooseberries. Herbal and a bit tea like. Some earthiness in the finish. It has a soft, tart bitterness. Medium sweet, as in just a bit syrupy. Transatlanic tasting. Not one of their best, but then the pub doesn't keep its beer well.
