Since the two reviews ahead of me are from Brits, they probably taste the Mount Hood hops and think this an APA. But I don't agree, primarily because I also rate packaging and intent. M&S intended this for their market in the southern half of England and dressed-up the label and the malts appropriately. And that's the ale I taste, not an APA. That said, I'm the first review in five years. So why fuss about style over not much ?
This Golden Looks the part and keeps its foam average for its APA style. Smells are mild malt and barely aromatic hops... in sum, average in my nose. Possibly more balanced than the average APA (which are often too hoppy) and these more modest hops make this a better brew for lunch. Medium-mouthed. Refreshing. Paired well with my smoked gouda sandwich. Cheers !
I like how M&S contracts its brews. But full-range department stores are not brewers; hence not-so-good Overall Hugs.

Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Pours pale straw, very similar colour to a sparkling white wine. Clear, with a minor patch of white bubbles. Some minor rising bubbles, but no surprise there's bubbles as it's a nucleated glass.
S- Very mild, just some light grain.
T- Bright and moderately dry on the front, some hoppy bitterness and the sensation after of my tongue having a dry brushing over of hops, that sustains into the finish.
F- Dry, bright, light'ish flavour vs moderately pungent trad dry hops.
O- It's got quite punchy hops and a lighter body. A robust and dry taste it's certainly refreshing. Would go well with a lunch in a pub garden on a summer's day, when you refreshment, a clear-to-spot character, without the ABV% impacting the rest of your day.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed!
500ml bottle BB: 05-2022 Bought from Marks & Spencer, Oxford Street, London. #1884.
