Crowler: Filled 10-17-2018, refrigerated @ 52F until tasting
Appearance: Cloudy dark-brown in color. Fairly large light-beige head that dissipated quickly.
Smell: Bourbon notes, coffee notes, brown sugar, and moderate dark fruit aromas (think raisins and prunes). Mild alcohol presence in the nose which true to the Anniversary series is mild for the ABV. The coffee features fairly prominently.
Taste: Like all the Bruery Anniversary beers Bourbon notes are present but the coffee makes itself known strongly just like the nose. I also get some fruity sherry notes, some brown sugar, and a bit of vanilla on the tail end. The beer finishes fairly dry compared to the other Anniversary beers I've had maybe due to the coffee addition and also that I've found the Anniversary series got less sweet as the series progressed. mild alcohol presence for the listed 16.3% ABV.
Mouth-feel: Medium-bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation.
Overall: The Bruery Anniversary beers were always top notch bal-aged beers for my tastes and the coffee and vanilla additions proved to work well with the base beer. I'm hoping the series and some variants continue in the future.
