Inspired by one of our favorite drugstore candy bars, we added fancy versions of all its ingredients to our bourbon barrel-aged anniversary ale which features noted of deep toffee, caramelized sugar, raisins, and dates. It was a joy to make, and we think it'll be a joy to drink.

375ml bottle poured into a tulip glass

A- pours brown in color with a ruby hue, one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring

S- initial coconut aromas are quickly followed by malty notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, leather, figs, dates and raisins. Undertones of cocoa, vanilla, amaretto and oaky bourbon

T- sweet and creamy coconut and vanilla hit the tongue up front and are quickly followed by malty notes caramel, toffee, burnt sugars, raisins and figs. Mid-palate brings out notes of earthy tobacco, chocolate, heavy cream, amaretto and toffee. The finish brings out complimenting notes of oaky bourbon with more caramel. Lingers of coconut, chocolate, caramel, oak and booze

M- medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a thick and syrupy mouthfeel that continues into a warming boozy finish

O- the coconut really comes through on this one and compliments the base beer brilliantly

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep mahogany. The beer is topped b a dense finger of light tan head which fades quickly to nothing with minimal lacing. There's a blob of nut fat or coconut oil sitting atop this beer as well.
S: Smells of almonds, vanilla, coconut, some bourbon barrel, toffee and caramel. Slight chocolate as well. There's a lot going on with the nose of this beer.
T: Taste is coconuts, almonds, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, oak, and dark fruits with a little hint of caramel. On the swallow there's more chocolate, almonds, coconut, vanilla, oak, and dark fruits.
M: This beer is fairly thick in body with a slightly syrupy feel on the palate. Carbonation starts off as feeling lively on the palate but it struggles to overcome the body. It still drink well though. The ABV gives this beer a drying finish which is expected.
O: Overall this is a really good beer. It has a really nice amount of flavor and complexity which makes it a joy to drink. All the flavors are well balanced and incorporated as well. I wouldn't mind seeing this one come back around again.
