At The Bruery, our barrel-aging methods have been shaped by a passion for science, craft, and exploration. A true testament to this, Quad Kisses is a blended quadruple ale born from experimentation with short-term barrel-aging. Brief, yet momentous, time in a tetrad of bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels, scotch barrels, and rum barrels, gave this ale a pleasantly unfamiliar complexity all its own.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep brown beer which is topped by a dense finger of slightly rocky light tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of huge dark fruits with some oak and mulling spices
T: Taste is dark fruits, toffee, caramel, mulling spices, whiskey barrel notes oak, and some hints of rum. On the finish there's more dark fruits, toffee, leather, oak, mulling spices, a hint of whiskey barrels and lingering dark fruit sweetness mixed with rum.
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of medium which was unexpected. Carbonation is soft and light but adequate for the style while the beer has a slightly drying finish.
O: Overall this is pretty good. It has some good flavors and some nice complexity, but it also tastes slightly muted. The muted flavors may just be due to age since this was bottled in 2020. It's still enjoyable and as it warms up past where my cellar was holding it the flavors are starting to become a little more expressive.

Quad Kisses pours a dark, deep, brown color with a small, lacing head. The aroma has hints of raisins and pit fruits. The flavor is nice, with a dry raisin and pit fruit flavor, with a noticeable hint of barrel and whiskey. Good feel. Overall, a sweeter quad with noticeable whiskey notes.

Pours a murky brown with a half finger khaki head that stick around. Nose is full of rum soaked dates, plums, red grape juice. Opens with a nice wash of warm malts mixed with plum/black cherries, that folds into a red grape sweet rum mix, that ends long with toasted caramel and cocoa mix. Body is light to medium with similar carbonation. Ends dry with a lingering toasted malt/light tobacco and a hint of bourbon. Overall a nice quad that really soars because of the subtle barrel characteristics that don't overpower the beer and instead add a wonderful layer of complexity that compliments the base beer. Wish i bought another bottle.

750ml bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours dark brown in color with a one finger foamy off white head that has short retention
S- dry complex nose; an array of barrel aromas give oaky bourbon, dark fruity rum, peppery rye and a hint of scotch. The base beer gives aromas of raisin, dark cherries, figs, Belgian candi sugar, pipe tobacco, chocolate & caramel
T- bold dark fruit notes of rum soaked raisin, peppery rye and oaky whiskey up front gives way to base beer notes of figs, prunes, black cherries, raisins & Belgian candi sugar. The finish gives dark fruits, chocolate, fruit cake, whiskey and fruity rum
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns into a creamy warming finish

750 ml bottle into a goblet. Bottled 4/6/20, had 7/22/23.
Pours a ruby amber color, cloudy, with a half inch foamy head and very light foamy cling. Aromas of caramel, oak, bourbon, rye whiskey, malt, cherry, some rum, a little scotch. Flavors of bourbon, rye whiskey- especially on the finish, scotch, malt, caramel, some cherry, some rum. Smooth, a very good medium body, appropriately carbonated.
Wow, this is really good. All four types of barrels show surprisingly well, especially the rye whiskey when fully warmed. Has a solid base that doesn’t buckle to the strong barrel presence. Very nice.

Interesting brew. Some of the barrel-aged nuances get lost in the shuffle…not sure you can really parse the scotch-aging from the other oaks. But still, amazing brew, need to be more barrel-aged Belgians.
