Working with port barrels can be very tricky, add extended aging to that and it multiplies. With a second round of aging in port barrels, we were excited to taste the impact these barrels had - and to no one's surprise, we found an elevated flavor profile with big and decadent notes of dark dried fruits, vanilla, and a hint of bitter chocolate.

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer which is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger of light tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of chocolate and stewed fruits with some red berries along with some vanilla, caramel, and roasted malts along with some pleasant oak
T: Taste is chocolate and roasted malts on entry before port comes in with some stewed fruits, red berries, leather, and oak. There's also some hints of coffee at times along with a little caramel and vanilla from the initial bourbon barrel aging. On the finish there's a ton of port influence with more stewed fruits and red berries, leather, a little spice, and some lingering oak with some more roasted malts and chocolate.
M: This beer is fuller in body than the average BT with a slightly syrupy feel. Carbonation is on the low side, but it is still adequate for the style and light on the tongue. This beer has a slightly drying finish which is fairly expected.
O: Overall this is outstanding. Huge flavors and complexity and the alcohol is fairly well hidden. The finish on this beer lasts for quite some time as expected. It would be nice to see this one come around again as it's quite good.

Look: deep dark BT, some ruby highlights. Sparse mocha head.
Smell: that rich deep BT goodness, loads of chocolate, vanilla, oak. Then there’s the port! Dark fruit, jammy rich.
Taste: like the nose, decadent goodness. Crazy easy drinker at 19%.

Poured from 10 oz can into Black Tuesday tulip.
Deep brown color. No head. Mild lacing. Smell is raisins and toffee. Flavor is roasted malts, raisins, dark fruit and booze. Moderate mouthfeel with an alcohol burn. A sipper indeed (like all BTs). Awesome version and way better than their standard Port Barrel-Aged BT.

Red Wine, chocolate, and oak.
Tastes and feels like a port with a touch of chocolate. Yet its not a beer/wine hybrid. It pulls its flavor from the barrel. I'm fairly critical of beer/wine hybtids as often being a lowest common denominator. Yet this hits a sweet spot by just using the barrel.
Best of the BT port varients, IMO.
