A: Poured into a snifter to a somewhat cloudy looking light brown beer which is topped by a small finger of dense off white head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of a surprising amount of chocolate for it not being listed as an adjunct, peanut butter, hints of banana
T: Taste is peanut butter forward with some hints of banana, a little bourbon barrel as well along with some toasted malts and a slight hint of chocolate. On the finish there's more peanut butter, banana, bourbon barrel, caramel, toasted malts, and slight lingering saltyness.
M: This beer has a moderate body along with a slightly low carbonation that's still somewhat adequate for the style. This beer finishes on the dry side due to the ABV and attenuation.
O: Overall this is really nice. Good flavors and a decent amount of complexity. It does seem to overshadow the base beer at times though so it may be a bit adjunct heavy for some people.
Offtopic: the last pour of this bottle had a ton on junk come out of it that was different from normal bottle sediment. Not sure what that's about but it's an extreme amount of floaty bits

Taster pour at the Bruery, darkish copperish tan with minimal head...bread and barley character leads the nose with competing aromas of peanuts and banana, not exactly complementary. Strong bready warmth from the alcohol, notes of brown sugar too...would have liked to have seen this one be a consistent PB&B brew but its fairly disjointed to me.

Beer Name: Elvis Mash
Brewery: The Bruery
Location: Placentia, CA
Style: Barrel-aged Barleywine
ABV: 10.9%
Date: 12/21/2020
I served Elvis Mash in a Tulip glass at 50 degrees. The pour created a foamy, airy, dark tan, one-fingered head with average retention. The beer is brown, with mahogany, measuring around 24 on the color chart. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The beer's appearance is average for its style.
When I sniff the glass, I initially smell bourbon, ripe bananas, peanuts, and bread. Nosing the glass again, I notice vanilla, wood, and a touch of char. Intriguing, this beer is dominated by banana and peanut aromas, making it challenging to detect any other aromas.
Bananas and peanuts are the most prominent flavors. The barrel age is bourbon and wood. The barleywine is bready, yeasty, caramel, brown sugar, earthy, and bits of toffee. Bananas and peanuts dominate the flavors, making it problematic to find other flavors.
The mouthfeel is chewy and finishes slightly warm. The body is medium-plus, and the carbonation is low.
I didn't know what to expect from this beer. The banana and peanuts are the stars here. As a barleywine, the balance with the barrel aging does not create harmony. The barleywine leans more toward the English Style. It would have been terrible if it was American. I can tell there is barrel aging, but a bit longer would help even the flavors. Elvis Mash is not one of my favorite barley wines.

750ml bottle poured into a tulip
2021 Vintage
A- pours a murky light brown with a one-finger foamy head that reduces to a ring
S- plenty of overripe banana initially, followed by roasted peanuts, caramel, toffee, creme brulee, oaky bourbon barrel & a hint of vanilla
T- sweet banana flavor initially is followed by a wave of caramel and toffee from the base beer. Mid-palate brings out some salty peanut as well as creamy vanilla. The finish brings out the barrel, adding bourbon and an enhancing caramel note. Lingers of sweet banana and caramel
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly creamy finish

750 ml bottle, looks like it says bottled on 12/21/20. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a murky yellow/brown color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention is decent, and there isn't much lacing at all. The brew smells like overripe bananas, peanuts, vanilla, bourbon and some salt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak and a bit of booze. Peanut and banana stands out in the taste and aroma, but I think it tastes better than it smells. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's smooth and a bit coating with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. If you like peanut and banana then this brew is for you. I'm not a big banana fan so people who like them more than me will probably like this brew more, but with that being said it's worth a try!
