This imperial stout is part of an exclusive collection of some of our favorite barrel treatments of Black Tuesday. Black Tuesday's big and bold nature lends itself well to this beer's lengthy wood-aging and highlights the unique nuances of each spirit barrel. This version spent 18 months in Cognac barrels, featuring hints of savory caramel, vanilla, and honey, along with familiar Black Tuesday notes of dark fruits, crème brûlée, and rich chocolate.

Black color with a thin, beige head. Chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, and cognac barrel notes in the aroma. Rich, moderately sweet taste with well-hidden alcohol.

This 2021 edition poured into a snifter with small beige swirls but no head and no foam.
The nose is of barrel slats with dried dark fruit and fumy caramel vanilla notes.
First sip: Boozy fruit notes speed their way up my nasal cavities!
Second sip: I taste caramel, vanilla, chocolate, honey. The barrel notes are omnipresent.
The mouthfeel is thin and creamy.
It has a fumy finish with a meld of flavors lingering and a little heat down the hatch.

Thanks to Caboose6 for this 12.7 oz. bottle dated 2021. It looks like a cute little BT baby.
The pour is dark brown, the nose luminous malts, booze, & cognac. There are worse things.
Black Tuesday – Cognac Barrel Aged isn’t fucking around. The booze goes in & splits up – half hammering the inside of my sternum & half slipping into my bloodstream, brain-bound. Cognac & strong black sugar cane mix it up in the forefront, with mid-palate bringing white chocolate, oak wildfire, faint cherry, & assorted fine spirits. The finish is swept up by the promised 20%+. While this is a night-killer, it can mess up my evening anytime.
Black Tuesday as a base simply doesn’t disappoint; at least to date. Looking forward to the other three little guys in the back room. An elite beer worthy of its lineage.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2021 vintage, bottled on date of 03/11/21. Served in a Black Tuesday chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with almost an inch tan head. Head didn't stick around for long, and there's not much lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark fruit, Cognac, oak, vanilla, dark chocolate and roasted malt. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some dark bread, coffee, burnt/charred malt and caramel flavors noticeable too. Definitely a dark fruit forward brew! Mouthfeel/body is full, it's rich and slick with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. Certainly doesn't drink like it's 20.4%, but with that being said it is still boozy. I liked this one a lot, a pretty good Cognac barrel aged imperial stout! Recommended to those who like dark fruity brews and imperial stouts in general!

On tap at the Bruery. Pours jet black with light brown head. Quickly fades. The nose is insane. Definitely Black Tuesday, but the cognac adds another dimension. Chocolate, dark fruits, bourbon, oak, and some roasted malts. The taste follows the nose. Big barrel booze right away. Sweet but not too sweet. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, char, oak, cognac, bourbon, cherries, raspberries, and an earthy taste. Sweet on the back end as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Overall, an incredible variant!

Look: oh so dark. Some tan head, more than I’d expect for a monster like this.
Smell: divine Black Tuesday plus cognac, vanilla, dark fruit.
Taste: like the nose, smooth as hell goin down, some burn in the finish.

Instead of rewriting my original review I’ll just point out some differences.
A little more grape nuances. More boozy, more hot. Nose hasn’t really been affected
Of all the variations, cognac barrel-aging has the least divergence from the original so far.
