Awww, snap, those Bruery folks are at it again! It goes without saying that our Bruers have a “birneing” passion for alternative ingredients, fresh sources of fermentable sugars, and of course, unique barrels. BirneSnap is an elevated version of a returning concoction. This experimentation in fermentation is a co-fermentation of wheatwine-style ale and pear that was then aged in bourbon barrels and treated with lemon and ginger. This wheatwine-style ale was inspired by a love for highly enjoyable, fruit-muddled fusion cocktails.

2021 edition, bottled 05/06/21. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours a reddish/amber color with about an inch and a half off-light tan head that stuck around a while. Decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like caramel, pear, ginger, lemon, bready malt and brown sugar. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some vanilla, bourbon, and earthy flavors. I think the pear and ginger stand out to me here. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's coating and a bit syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, seems to have aged well. Tasting pretty good right now, certainly worth trying if you get the chance!
