Double bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with vanilla beans

Twice the vanilla, twice the barrel-aging, unstoppable amounts of villainy. After aging for 12 months in bourbon barrels then an additional 12 months in rum barrels, we treated this imperial stout with 3 types of vanilla beans from 17 sources: Vanilla Planifolia from Congo, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tonga, Uganda, and Vanuatu; Vanilla Tahitiansis from Cook Islands, Ecuador, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Tahiti; and Vanilla Pompona from Peru

Pitch shimmering black with a brown cap that settles into a thick collar. The vanilla bomb of vanilla bombs. Smell and taste are laced with it but in a swirling complex way, bourbon and rum take it on with dark oak and chocolate supporting. For all of this decadence, it is surprisingly not very deep. Otherwise feel is heavy and thick with booze warmth cut into right away by the vanilla, malt reign after.

Double barreled Vanilla Villain, 12 months in rum barrels, after 12 in bourbon.
Look: Bruery imp stout, Stygian dark, faint ruby highlights when held to light. Modest mocha head on the pour that mostly recedes.
Smell: super rich vanilla that presents as chocolate marshmallow vanilla. Huge foundation of roasty stout. Bourbon, oak, rum, perfect cradle for all that vanilla.
Taste: like the nose. Hard to overstate how amazing this is.
