We’re bringing the heat for the final day of the week— just in time for a well-deserved siesta. Inspired by the spicy-sweet flavors of Mexico’s iconic mole, Black Tuesday shines in its tequila barrel-aged debut. We added cayenne peppers, cacao nibs, cinnamon, and vanilla beans to bring a slightly sweet balance to this spicy end-of-the-week treat.

Black color with a thin, beige head. Dark chocolate, peppers, and some cinnamon in the aroma. The same notes follow into taste. Distinctive heat from cayenne peppers and tequila barrels. Good.

Siesta Saturday is the finale of the Seven Days of the Week, Black Tuesday. Since it is Saturday, it's time to enjoy. I am serving the beer at 50 degrees in a tulip glass. The pour created nothing; the hard pour produced no head. The color is dark brown, nearly black, mostly transparent, and charting at SRM 36. I am disappointed with the appearance. Generally, The Bruery's dark, big ABV beer presents some head.
Nosing the glass, I smell vanilla, oak, chocolate, coffee, chili, cinnamon, char, Maillard, raisin, dates, flowers, treacle, herbal, wood resin, anise, molasses, toffee, caramel, Tequila, grass, leather, earthiness, dark roasted malts, and malty sweetness.
Sipping the glass, I taste Tequila, chili, vanilla, cinnamon, grass, Maillard, char, light smoke, floral, black pepper, herbal resin, toffee, chocolate, coffee, molasses, caramel, tobacco, leather, earthiness, grassy, malty sweetness, and wood.
The mouthfeel is spicy and chewy, and the finish is warming from alcohol. The body is heavy and medium carbon.
Thus far, this chili beer is the spiciest. The cayenne kicks in the heat, and the Tequila adds these nuances, creating depth and complexity. Siesta Saturday is a perfect ending to a lovely day.

Brownish slate black body with an oatmeal colored collar. Cinnamon and peppers punch the smell right away, followed by more cinnamon tequila, and chocolate, no vanilla. Taste is pretty rough with the cinnamon and peppers running away on a tequila boozed fever dream, the cocoa, vanilla, and dry wood are briefly on the finish amongst all that booze. Feel is hot and spicy: good for wings bad for beer. Swing and a miss variant for me

750 ml wax capped bottle, 2022 edition, bottled 07/20/22. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that didn't stay around for very long. Not much lacing. I like the aroma a lot, the brew smells like cinnamon, vanilla, roasted malt, cacao nibs and some chilies. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some burnt/charred malt, coffee, dark chocolate, tequila and oaky flavors. Chile heat is mild but is noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's coating and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good overall brew, definitely recommended if you like tequila aged brews, chile pepper brews and/or big imperial stouts in general!

750 mL into a snifter
Bruery’s homage to Mexican mole, the beer was wisely crafted with more heat and astringent aspects than you’d expect, given how sweet moles can be, as well as Black Tuesday (this is basically Black Tuesday aged in tequila barrels with mole flavors added). This one is nicely rounded and layered, with cinnamon popping to the front of the palate, offsetting the expected rush of molasses and cocoa.
The Bruery has been hit-and-miss with their concoctions trying to emulate other culinary staples. This is definitely at hit…big. Maybe not quite a home run, but close.
