Blended barrel-aged imperial stout with pecans, cinnamon, and vanilla beans
Laissez les bons temps rouler with this festive imperial stout! We blended together two of our favorite brandy barrel and rye barrel-aged imperial stouts for an unbelievably rich, complex base flavor. We then gave it the full Mardi Gras Praline King Cake treatment with pecans, cinnamon, and Tahitian vanilla beans.

Poured on tap at The Bruery in Anaheim. Pours black with minimal head. The nose is fantastic. Cinnamon, slight gin, chocolate, and some rye.
The taste is fantastic. Gin, rye, cinnamon, chocolate, pecans, lemon, a touch of salt, and roasted malts. Such a great combination that I was a little bit hesitant about.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a great aftertaste. The gin comes through a bit more at this point. I'm not a gin fan, but this was fairly mild.

Name: Fat Twosday
Brewery: The Bruery
Location: Placentia, CA
Style: Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout
ABV: 18.8%
Canned: 01/17/2023
Date: 23 May 2025
I am serving it at 50 degrees in a tulip glass. The pour created a frothy, foamy, one-fingered tan head with average retention. The dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The color is jet black with dark rusty brown ebony hues. It is opaque and charting at SRM 34. It has an average appearance for a stout, especially with a high ABV.
Nosing the glass, I smell dark chocolate, nutty, cinnamon, dark-roasted coffee, char, light Maillard, bourbon, dark-roasted malts, oak, caramel, molasses, toffee, biscuit, vanilla, malty sweetness, raisins, and brown sugar.
Sipping the glass, I taste dark chocolate, bourbon, dark roasted malts, light char, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, nuts, dates, leather, espresso, oak, light malty sweetness, bready, cakey, dark toasted bread crust, raisins, and floral.
The mouthfeel is chewy and thick, finishing slightly warm. The body is heavy and has low carbonation.
Fat Twosday is sweeter than the normal Black Tuesday beer. It is more of a dessert beer with a lovely nutty, cinnamon, and vanilla note. The beer has cake/biscuit quality and an excellent barrel finish. I enjoyed sipping this beer on a beautiful evening; it is in 60's in Idaho

12.7 ounce bottle, 2023 edition, bottled 01/17/23. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that didn't stay around for very long. Small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like cinnamon, vanilla, nuts, brandy, whiskey and roasted malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some dark bread, burnt/charred malt, oak and dark fruit flavors. It's a sweeter tasting brew, but not quite overpoweringly so. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's syrupy and slick with a moderate amount of carbonation. Doesn't seem like it's 18.8% ABV. I thought this was a pretty good overall brew, especially if you like sweeter tasting imperial stouts!
