Belgian-style Tripel Ale
Tradition and innovation are built into The Bruery’s DNA, and this traditionally-inspired Belgian-style Tripel ale, made with a recipe adapted from one of our very first releases, Trade Winds, is no exception. A Gust Of Wind derives much of its flavor from careful yeast selection, giving rich spice notes and subtle fruit character. Enjoy a malty sweetness with a gust of spice, finished with a balanced amount of hops.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 12/20/2022. Pours slightly hazy golden orange amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing and some streaming carbonation on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big apricot, peach, pear, red apple, white grape, melon, pineapple, lemon, citrus zest, peppercorn, clove, honey, bread, wood, herbal, grass, light banana/pine, and yeast earthiness. Light-medium pine/woody bitterness and pepper/clove yeast spiciness on the finish. Light yeast tang/tartness. Medium-high carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready malt and sticky/light resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Lingering hop resin dryness with no cloying/astringency. I remember tradewinds being one of my favorite US made tripels when I reviewed it in 2014. This one's quite a bit heavier/sweeter with more stone fruit flavors, but all around still nicely complex on yeast flavors that are similar to tradewinds.

M: medium feel. Moderate carbonation. Sweet finish.
O: decent, but it feels more like a wit.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden yellow color with a small, white head of fluffy foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of clove, spices, coriander, yeast and biscuit malt. Sweet caramel taste with a good deal of spices and a yeasty kick.
