Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with copious amounts of coconut and just a touch of vanilla for balance.

Pours black with brown edges and a mocha 1 finger head that quickly dissipates. Nose is chocolate, dark fruits, and some vanilla. Opens with sweet dark fruits that fold into a mix of chocolate and vanilla soft serve in a way, that has coconut edges. Body is medium with similar carbonation. Ends slightly cloyingly with sugar covered coconut. Overall I can see why people like this, not my go to though because coconut is not a flavor I like. It’s well made though, I can appreciate it.

like many in their idaho taproom so far, this tastes and feels a little tired, and while this is lovely overall, the coconut seems faded, there is oxidation here, and its not quite as defined as it probably once was, or else the draft is just unflattering to a lot of these compared to the bottle, id love to try it in that format at some point. big coal black full bodied stout in the glass without much head, looks a little greasy maybe from the coconut oils, some sheen to it. the nose has some fade, some oak and char but not a ton of whiskey to it, subtle but quality vanilla, lots of bitter roasty grain, a french roast coffee bean quality, and less coconut than i was expecting for sure, but its there, natural, and consistent throughout, light smoke, dark cocoa, and maybe trace anise or something. the flavor is pretty straightforward actually, not a ton of bourbon but a good amount of barrel, which i am fine with, the vanilla character of the wood brings up the vanilla added, not too much, sexy and feminine in a beer thats huge like this is kind of neat, and the coconut is well integrated but not super forward, a hint of grilled pineapple or something making it seems tropical and cooked, more and more alcohol as it sits, a ton of body, definitely some slickness from the coconut, almost fatty feeling, i feel it as much as i taste it i think. i like the bitterness from the roast balancing the sweetness thats all through it, i think this is less outwardly desserty than a lot of them. its full and rich anyway, a little less carbonated than would be ideal, nice and boozy and cozy, and overall very solid even without a ton of coconut. got pretty buzzed up on all the heavy barrel stuff here this time...

This beer, a captivating addition to my recent tastings, is presented in a tulip glass at a refreshing 50 degrees. It features a unique cream, foamy, two-fingered, dark tan head that lingers, leaving behind delicate lacing on the glass. The liquid, a deep brown hue bordering on black, boasts a 38 on the color chart. Its clarity is opaque, punctuated by gentle carbonation, a distinctive characteristic of this beer style.
The aromas of this beer start with coconuts and chocolate. These aromas remind me of a Mounds chocolate bar you get in the candy aisle, except the aromas do not have a waxy note. Nosing the glass again, I pick up molasses, coffee, caramel, toffee, raisins, and subtle earthy aromas. The barrel aging is mild compared to other beers I have consumed recently. I notice hints of bourbon, char, and oak; they are faint, but they are there. The aromas remind me of a mound bar soaked in an aged bourbon.
Mmmm, flavors of ripe, juicy coconuts dipped in dark chocolate initiate the tasting experience. The dark chocolate is earthy and slightly bitter, adding depth to the flavor profile. The imperial stout is a blend of dark roasted malts, coffee, earthy, caramel, molasses, raisins, and a touch of toffee, creating a symphony of flavors. The barrel age adds an excellent complement to the already complex flavors. I detect notes of bourbon, orange, char, and oak, further enhancing the richness of the taste.
The mouthfeel starts silky smooth yet chewy and finishes slightly creamy and warm. The body is heavy with low carbonation.
It's a fantastic beer with lots of deep, rich flavors. It's a stellar beer showcasing coconuts and chocolate. It's a great way to finish a lovely day before starting the work week.

A-pours jet black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring around the glass

S- smells just like a mounds bar; creamy shredded coconut, chocolate, vanilla and a hit of caramel. Barrel undertones add a backbone of oaky bourbon and an enhancing coconut note

T- sweet creamy coconut, marshmallow cream and chocolate up front. Mid-palate fives oaky barrel with barrel juice. The finish continues with more bourbon with a coconut and marshmallow cream linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a warming finish

750 ml bottle into a snifter. Bottled 6/14/23, had 12/16/23.

Pours near black and opaque, with a half inch quickly dissipating head of bubbly foam and light foamy lacing. Aromas of coconut, vanilla, malt, chocolate, light bourbon, some oak. Similar flavors, with more of a barrel presence than the nose: coconut, bourbon, vanilla, malt, chocolate, some oak. Smooth, a little creamy, a very good full body, well carbonated.

More straightforward and focused than most Bruery efforts, but really good. Lots of good coconut and vanilla with a strong base and sufficient barrels. I really liked that they didn’t add cacao nibs to this; coconut and vanilla alone is a great BA stout combo. Very enjoyable, best fully warmed.

750 ml bottle, 2023 edition, bottled 06/14/23. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that fizzled away kinda quickly. Small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like coconut, dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and roasted malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some burnt/charred malt, dark bread, oak and earthy flavors. I think the coconut stands out but doesn't overpower the other flavors at all. Kinda reminds me of a Mounds bar. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's coating and a bit syrupy with a good amount of carbonation. The 15.7% ABV is hidden well enough even though it is a bit boozy. I liked this one a lot, definitely worth picking up especially if you like coconut imperial stouts!

750 mL bottle into a snifter

Another variation of Bruery’s classic BBA stout, infused with a truck load of coconut adjuncts. They’ve really got these dialed in, where they retain their classic, bitter-sweet stout profile, while pressing up against a full-blown pastry stout. Always a nice sipper - this one has a bit more carbonation them some of the others varieties, which works to shorten the finish.
