Gather ’round the campfire for some freshly-baked apple crisp and scary stories— if this sounds like the perfect way to spend a summer evening, Applescotch Crisp was made for you. This blend of Weller bourbon barrel-aged and Speyside scotch barrel-aged ale was treated with apples, granola, and vanilla, plus a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg for that extra bit of spice.

From the 750 ml bottle in a snifter with a big thanks to Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This unique brew pours a muddled brownish mahogany with a moderate head of
off white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and sports some
light lacing and some nice legs. Nose of brown sugar, apple, cinnamon, nutmeg,
and faint bourbon dashed with vanilla. Flavors show a depth of blending barrels with
light bourbon, smokey scotch, mulled apples, nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, and mellow
oak notes. Mouth feel is medium, medium light leaning towards light carbonation,
smooth, lightly warming (this one is dangerous!), and finishing lightly smokey, moderately
sweet, and subtly dry.
Overall, the good Bru folk know their onions on blending great unique flavors!
Cheers

750 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. Bottled 8/11/23, had 2/23/24.
Pours a cloudy medium amber color, with a one inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of apple, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, light bourbon and scotch, light smoke, a hint of granola when warmed. Flavors of apple, vanilla, bourbon- more as it warms, smoke, leather, scotch as it warms, light cinnamon. Smooth, a very good medium body, well carbonated.
Pretty delicious, bright and fresh tasting. The apples and vanilla star and both barrels show well- the Speyside barrels giving up the smoke and leather. The spices are also impactful. Really enjoyable.

750 ml bottle, 2023 edition, bottled 08/11/23. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours a dark brown color with some reddish tinges along with about an inch or so tan head. Head retention is pretty good, and there's a decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like apples, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, grainy malt and smokiness. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with the addition of some bourbon. I think the Scotch barrel stands out more than the Bourbon barrel does here. I didn't expect the smokiness and now I'm wondering what Speyside barrels this was aged in. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit slick and syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew a lot, definitely worth trying especially if you like apples, spiced brews and some smoke!

Applescotch Crisp pours a very dark brown with a small but long-lasting lacing head. The aroma is very sweet, with baked apples and hints of cinnamon. The flavor is sweeter, with bourbon notes, a hint of smoke, baked apples, and cinnamon; very desert-like. Good feel. Overall, it is a big apple, desert-like beer.
