Port barrel-aged imperial stout
Step into Fireproof and experience distiller-and-Bruer collaboration on a whole new level. Alongside our friends at Balcones Distilling out of Waco, Texas, we aged our Bayonet stout in port barrels that previously aged Balcones’ Hechicheros single malt whisky, resulting in a complex beer beautifully showcasing Balcones’ barrel character. Aromas of molasses, pumpernickel, and dried plums rise to greet you ahead of notes of toasted oak, dark chocolate, and toasted wheat bread.

From the 12.7 oz bottle in a snifter via Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This beastly brew pours a deep obsidian with a nice head of brown foam that
settles to a thin ring, thin dusty layer, and sports some light lacing and some mighty
fin legs. Nose of dark port, char, molasses, dark fruits, and dark breaded malt dashed with cocoa.
Flavors follow the nose but surpass with a very nice presentation of dark molasses, light char,
dark cocoa, vanilla, dark vinous port, sherry, dark cherry, and dark bread. Mouth feel is
full, smooth, rich coating, warming, light carbonation, and a rich lightly dry and spicy
booze finish.
Overall, a fantastical little brew worthy of the good Bru folks portfolio!
Cheers

12.7 ounce bottle, bottled 10/25/23. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark fruit, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted malt and molasses. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some dark bread, oak, burnt/charred malt and Port wine flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's coating and rich with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one a lot, certainly worth picking up, especially if you like bigger brews and/or Port barrel aged imperial stouts!
