Rum barrel-aged imperial stout

Step into Demon Water and experience distiller-and-Bruer collaboration on a whole new level. Alongside our friends at Newport Craft Distilling out of Newport, Rhode Island, we aged Black Tuesday in Newport’s Thomas Tew single barrel rum barrels, resulting in a complex beer beautifully showcasing Newport’s barrel character. Aromas of roasted hazelnut, milk chocolate, and chocolate pirouettes rise to greet you ahead of notes of dark chocolate and barrel heat.

From the 12.7 oz bottle in a snifter via Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This monster imperial pours a murky blackish brown with a modest head
of khaki foam that settles to a thin ring and subtle clumping layer. Nose of
spicy rum, char, brulee, dark cocoa, and dark berry notes amongst the astringent
booze and brown sugars. Flavors open up nicely with dark raisin bread, dark
berry notes of blueberry and raspberry, dark bakers cocoa, char, brulee, and
rich rum barrel notes dashed with brewers licorice and subtle coffee. Mouth feel
is full, moderately slick, smooth, warming, coating, and light carbonation that
finishes rich and warm with bitter malt notes.

Of note, vanilla shows up nicely with warmth.

Overall, a SOLID imperial worthy of the goof Bru folks portfolio!

Cheers

12.7 ounce bottle, bottled 10/17/23. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that didn't stick around for too long. Small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like fudge, vanilla, rum, roasted malt and nuttiness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some dark bread, burnt/charred malt, dark fruit and dark chocolate flavors. A little bit boozy too. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and a bit syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, definitely worth trying especially if you're into rum barrel aged stouts!
