Blend of sour and imperial stouts aged in bourbon barrels with boysenberries and vanilla. Bruery Terreux on label.
BoysenBBLs pays homage to one of our favorite locally-grown fruits: boysenberries! We added boysenberries and just a touch of vanilla to this decadent blend of some of our favorite imperial stouts with some of our most delicious sour ales. Tart yet sweet, rich yet light; this is one treat you won’t want to miss.

750 ml bottle, 2023 edition bottled 09/21/23, Bruery Terreux on label. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark chocolate, vanilla, boysenberries, roasted malt, caramel and some bourbon. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oaky flavors. Leans a little more sweet than tart tasting to me, and I wish the barrel character had more of a kick. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and a bit syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Overall I think it's a good one, certainly worth trying if you get the chance!

Pours black with a purple hue and a two finger tan head. Nose is a mix of sour, acidity, chocolate, and berries. Taste opens with a pale chocolate covered sour berries that transitions to hints of cocoa, some vanilla sweetness. Body is medium with similar carbonation. Ends dry and sweet like a dessert wine. Overall another very nice one from the Bruery. Sour stouts are not for everyone but this one could be one anyone would like

750 mL bottle into a Duvel tulip
Dark brown concoction, fairly effervescent for the style. Scattered dots of lacing.
Nice aromatic nose, tart and oaky and complex. A bit of a brandy-like linger.
Sour stouts are always a tough sell - just a lot going on and tend to overstimulate the taste sensors. This one gets points for bringing everything together rather seamlessly - with its nutty undertone, it’s reminding me of a peanut butter and tart jelly sandwich. Finishes long and sweet and sour.

Pours near black from the bottle brief tan head that settles to a very small ring; touch of spotty lacing. Nose is charred barrel, dark berries, blackstrap molasses, black licorice, raspberry dark chocolate. Taste is boozy red fruit candies, sharp but sweet red fruit juice; finish is mildly tannic and sour with a distinct char flavor as well; best parallel is those dark chocolate bars with dehydrated raspberry. Feel is extremely light for the ABV with light and loose carbonation. Overall, another pretty solid sour stout from this group.
