Sour rye ale with passion fruit, orange, guava, and vanilla

This POG-inspired sour ale is… well, excellent! Brewed with copious amounts of rye malt then treated with passion fruit, Cara cara oranges, and guava along with a touch of vanilla for sweetness, this tropical-sweet sipper is ready to party on. Schwing!

Hazy, amber color. Big, off-white head. Passion fruit, guava, and vanilla in the aroma. Tart, fruity taste with some milk sugar sweetness. Balanced and tasty.

750 ml bottle, 2024 edition, bottled 03/29/24. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours a cloudy amber/copper color with about an inch and a half light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like guava, caramel, passionfruit, orange, bready malt and a bit of vanilla. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some spicy rye bread although I think the POG flavors stand out here in comparison to the others. It's tart but not quite as sour as I was expecting. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and easy enough to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this one was good, certainly worth trying especially if you like POG brews!

Pours a hazy blood orange with a finger of off white foam. Smells of guava and tropical fruit, plus some sour/ tart, almost like vomit. The flavor is tart tropical fruit and some rye earthiness. Light bodied. Aside from the look and smell it's pretty good, but be prepared for those to turn you off.
