Double Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout finished in Bourbon Maple Syrup Barrels
Heavenly Blis achieves new levels of decadence by aging our iconic Black Tuesday imperial stout in bourbon maple syrup barrels from our friends at BLiS Gourmet. Inky black with a caramel head, it seduces the senses with intoxicating wafts of rich maple, oak, and vanilla. One sumptuous sip, three lavish flavors - boozy maple syrup drizzled over charred oak and notes of vanilla. Pair this delicacy with Belgian waffles and fresh fruit for a slice of maple-drenched nirvana.

750 ml bottle, 2024 edition, bottled 08/14/24. Served in a Hoarders Society chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that went away somewhat quickly. There's a small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like vanilla, maple, roasted malt, oak and some dark chocolate. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some burnt/charred malt, dark bread, and caramel flavors. Good amount of barrel character, but it doesn't overpower the other flavors at all. Leans sweeter tasting but not overwhelmingly so. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's syrupy and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Definitely a sipping brew, although it doesn't seem as boozy as I was expecting it to be. I liked this one a lot, certainly worth trying especially if you like big imperial stouts!

Look - Pours a pitch black color with a small head that has slightly larger than normal bubbles that disappears after a few minutes.
Smell - Smells of bourbon, oak, and maple. I think I prefer the smell to the Black Tuesday.
Taste - Taste of bourbon, maple, figs, oak, and even some vanilla. Again, better to me than the Black Tuesday, but I'm not a huge fan of that one.
Feel - Has a really nice mouthfeel for a 20.5%ABV stout. Really smooth and easy drinking!
Overall - Actually a pretty decent stout. I think the maple was an improvement over the Black Tuesday, though I'm not a huge fan of that one.

Baker's chocolate/milk chocolate, a faint hint of maple, rye-spicy, and a prominent vanilla-bourbon barrel boozy nose on this one! Taste follows exactly with that hint of maple, prominent bourbon barrel finish...a touch of oak show up as well. As it warms, that familiar Black Tuesday booziness starts to dominate the backend. This is really good!
