Bourbon barrel-aged beer with coffee, blueberries, vanilla, cinnamon, and pecans.
A winning blend from our annual Hoarders Society blending competition, this blend incorporates an imperial stout aged with dark ale and wheatwine ale, which is then dosed with coffee, vanilla, and toasted pecans and cinnamon. The result? Each sip delivers subtly sweet coffee and vanilla flavors supported by a nutty roasted pecan foundation.

375mL bottle into a tulip. Pours a deep dark, almost opaque brownish black with a thin mocha head that doesn’t last. Boozy legs evident on a swirl like a nice Cabernet.
Aroma leads off with powerful notes of dry cocoa and hot cinnamon, then bourbon, vanilla, and toasted coconut (which is actually probably the pecans). But the main event here seems to be the cinnamon, and it packs an aromatic wallop.
On the palate, though, sweet syrupy blueberries take center stage while the cinnamon recedes. Surprising how these two ingredients have such a distinct impact on aroma and flavor. Beyond the sweet berries there’s chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Brown sugar and toasted marshmallows in there too. Warming booziness as it goes down.
Mouthfeel is sticky and syrupy, lingering aftertaste. I like my stouts on the drier side and this is definitely more in the pastry family, but it’s good for what it is.
Overall a really unique dessert beer with a lot going on. Not one I’d enjoy every day but more evidence that beer’s possibilities are limitless.

From the 12.7 fl oz bottle in a snifter via Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This solid imperial pours a muddy blackish brown with a modest head
of light brown foam that settles to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and
displays some nice legs with a swirl. Nose of bourbon, pecans, brown sugars,
subtle oak, light cinnamon, and brulee dashed with coffee and dark berry notes.
Flavors excel with the nose with pecan pie, blueberry jam, mild oak, vanilla,
bourbon, coffee, brulee, moderate char, dark cocoa, and cinnamon that fades in
with the alcohol burn nicely. Mouth feel is full, smooth, rich, coating, warming, light
carbonation, and a sweet bourbon and more pronounced blueberry note with
warmth finish that is moderately dry and bitter on the malt side.
Overall, a stellar brew again from the masters of blending flavor profiles most
would never think of.
Sweet without being overly cloying....balance even on the extreme side of
experimentation. True genius!
Cheers

12.7 ounce bottle, 2024 edition, bottled 11/08/24. Served in a Bruery Hoarders Society chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stayed around for a little while. Small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like vanilla, roasted malt, cinnamon, blueberries, nuts, coffee and some chocolate. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some caramel, bourbon, oak and earthy flavors. Leans sweeter tasting, and the barrel character isn't strong at all but then it could be overpowered by all the other flavors. Still kinda boozy at this point, but not too bad for being 15.3% ABV. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating and a bit syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one a lot but recommend it more to people who like sweeter tasting brews!

Look - Pours a nice black color with a nice brown head that mostly disappears after a minute but leaves a ring around the side of the glass.
Smell - The smell has a lot going on. I can pick up all the notes listed on the bottle: blueberries, cinnamon, pecans, vanilla, bourbon, and coffee. Not bad!
Taste - Tastes of blueberries, bourbon, vanilla, and cinnamon. I'm not getting much coffee or pecan in the taste, but that's ok as the other flavors are nice.
Feel - Not as smooth as other top-rated stouts, and the 15.3%ABV is a bit more noticeable.
Overall - Overall, I'm impressed with this stout, as it smells and tastes nice.

Absolutely fantastic offering from these guys, could be my favorite I’ve ever had from their whole range.
Wasn’t sure what we’d get color-wise, thought we’d see a dark gold or brown color reminiscent of a brown strong ale, but this is an imperial stout for sure, opaque black with a fizzy dark brown ring of head. Epic mixture of sweetness on the nose, there is a present berry component and notes of brown sugar, vanilla, some barrel character and booze, milk chocolate, and faint baking spices. The palate aligns perfectly, everything from maple syrup, vanilla beans, and pecans, to coffee, brown sugar, cinnamon, chocolate, bourbon, caramel, all combined with blueberry puree and a mild present tartness. Sticky warm coating mouthfeel. Pretty darn epic.

this is epic, one of the best ive had from these guys since they opened the idaho spot, and this is what i know and love the bruery for, these huge barrel aged beers as thick as they are complex, and this one is really brilliant, my favorite from a big session there last night, insane amount of body on this, loaded with more flavors than seem to make sense, and the intensity of the blueberry is wild in something this dark and strong, its crazy fruit forward for what it is, impressive top to bottom, i can still taste it through my moderate hangover this afternoon. this must be a blend, maybe stout and barleywine, lots of malt depth, bourbon, and oak notes on this thick dark brown monster without much head and intimidating viscosity, surprised this even flowed through a tap line. im smelling jammy blueberry, raisin and fig fruit sweetness, hints of vanilla, praline with the pecan aspect, and warming cinnamon, bourbon, and alcohol all together, quite a bit of roast keeping it balanced, bigtime chocolate character too, and cozy coffee and even smoke, lots going on here, anything but subtle on these added elements, but they all come together really well, complex and intriguing, heaps of sweet long cooked bready malts too. the flavor is even better than the nose, coffee and cinnamon all through it, they could have stopped there and had a winner, but the blueberries are loaded into this so intensely, cant believe how fruity it is for being this dark and strong and barrel forward. vanilla and pecan hit later and are just wonderful with the blueberry, pie-like to me, desserty yeah but not in a cheap forced way as has become the norm in the pastry beer world we are living in. strong caramel and toffee make me think barleywine, espresso, roast, and creamy body make me think stout, some light tannins from the berries and the oak together, synergies all over this, vanilla and oak, bourbon and pecan, cinnamon and alcohol, the whole thing is ideal for holiday time, forever on the palate, and true to each of these ingredients. a real stunner and a favorite around our table! going to grab one of these to lay down for awhile too...

Baker's chocolate and all-spice, hazelnut coffee roast, oatmeal cookies, a hint of cinnamon, a hint of blueberry pancakes, and a bourbon barrel nose on this one! Whoa...a lot going on here, but really good aromatics! Taste follows with an oatmeal raisin spice cookie and a balanced bourbon barrel finish. Not much blueberry on the palate, but that is okay as the dark fruitiness with the coffee and cinnamon goes really well with the barrels here...as it warms, a touch more blueberry comes out in a balanced way. Pleasantly surprised with how good this one is!

On tap. Muddled brown black color.
Cinnamon and bourbon. Fudge, vanilla, with the coffee showing but not out front. It does show in the finish with some roast. Charred barrels. Pecans are there, but the main adjunct is the cinnamon. Blueberries show the most in the nose. This is great.
