A: poured into a snifter to a black beer which is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger of light tan head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of roasted malts, chocolate, and some cinnamon with some other warming spices. Hints of vanilla too
T: Taste is dark chocolate, funky wet wood, some cinnamon, roasted malts, and coffee along with some caramel and vanilla. On the finish there's some cinnamon roll like qualities, a little more funky wet wood, chocolate, roasted malts, and a hint of char at the very end. The funky wet wood note was really only apparent on the first sip. It blends well once the palate is a little acclimated.
M: This beer is fuller bodied than the average Black Tuesday variant. Carbonation is lightly effervescent and adequate for the style while the high ABV gives this one a drying finish.
O: Overall this is pretty interesting. the amburana provides some nice flavors, but the funky wet wood was a bit of an unexpected detour. Enjoable, but I think other double barrel aged versions are a little better.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2025 edition, bottled 12/27/24. Served in a BeerAdvocate chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that didn't stay around for too long. Decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma a lot, the brew smells like vanilla, bourbon, earthiness, woodiness (Amburana), dark chocolate fudge and some cinnamon. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some dark bready, dark fruit and roasted malt flavors. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. It's boozy, but doesn't seem quite as strong as its 20.7% ABV would indicate either. I thought this was pretty good, definitely worth trying especially if you like big imperial stouts!

One of the most unique Black Tuesday variants I've ever had. Really spectacular. Hard to describe what the amburana brings to the show, but it's awesome.
